Upon release, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the follow-up to 2019's Fallen Order, received mostly good scores from critics, but the fan base evidently feels differently and the game is being review bombed by the community. As one of the most anticipated games of 2023, Survivor has been on a lot of people's watch lists for some time, especially given the warm reception of its predecessor. However, there appear to be some major issues with the new release.
It's becoming more common these days for games to be review bombed, a practice that involves fans taking to online digital storefronts and sites like Metacritic to hit titles with a wave of low scores and negative comments. Some of these may be down to console exclusivity or pricing, while there are a vocal minority who often take exception to games like The Last of Us Part 2 and Horizon Forbidden West opting for more exclusivity or offering stronger representation of women, ethnicity, and people from the LGBTQIA+ community. However, there are times when a game is just poorly optimized.
This seems to be the case for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Several comments and reviews on Steam show that a number of people are not happy about how the game runs on PC. At the time of writing, the top comment comes from user Doctor TacoChocolate, who says the game is "extremely fun but performs terribly." They go on to say that their Nvidia RTX 3090 can get a steady 30fps "in some areas." Santiago Santiago simply refers to it as "Star Wars CPU Survivor," while Karnatia says that their RTX 3080 is "not good enough to run the game."
These comments seem like legitimate worries, especially as the PC specs for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor show that an RTX 2070 should be sufficient to meet the recommended requirements. The game currently has a review rating of "Mostly Negative" on Steam, with only 29% of reviews being positive. This is the opposite of the scores the game received from critic reviews, which earned it an overall Metacritic score of 81 on PC, while OpenCritic has it down as 89% across all platforms.
These negative reviews from fans go alongside reports that Star Wars Jedi Survivor is performing poorly on PC, with a number of outlets expressing concerns about how the game runs even on high-end systems. It's likely that Respawn Entertainment will address these issues, but for now, it looks like Survivor is not proving popular with PC users, with fan scores being at odds with what reviewers and critics are saying about the game.
