Spoilers for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor AheadStar Wars Jedi: Survivor may be set during the rise of the Empire, but it seems to be filled with Clone Wars-era content for fans to enjoy. The Clone Wars is one of the most popular eras in Star Wars right now, but no one seems to be developing a game during that period. It seems like it may be up to Respawn to pick up the slack, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is its way of doing that.

By the time Star Wars Jedi: Survivor unfolds, the Clone Wars have long since ended. The Republic has fallen into ruin, and the Galactic Empire has risen in its place. Players get to follow Cal Kestis' desperate fight against the encroaching shadow of the Empire, and they will encounter a few stragglers from the Clone Wars on their journey. While it may not be a Clone Wars game, much of its story seems to honor this fan favorite era in a fantastic way.

The Clone Wars Era Shines in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

The Second Battle Of Geonosis In Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sees Cal Kestis come face-to-face with a brand-new set of villains disconnected from the Empire. This vile group of beings named the Bedlam Raiders has been building its strength on the planet of Koboh, and it has teamed up with a High Republic era Jedi to accomplish their goals. They wish to claim the mysterious planet of Tanalorr so that they can build a massive army and cleanse the galaxy. It is up to Cal Kestis to stop them, and the entirety of the Clone Wars seems to be in his way.

The Bedlam Raiders seem to have gained control of an entire Separatists Lucrehulk-class battleship on Koboh. They have fashioned it into their base of operations and have reprogrammed the droids within it to do their bidding. These droids form the majority of the Raiders' army, and Cal must overcome hordes of them throughout the story. Pretty much every iconic Separatist droid makes an appearance, making this a perfect treat for Clone Wars fans.

At one point in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Cal must infiltrate the Lucrehulk to save the High Republic droid Zee from the clutches of the Bedlam Raiders. What ensues is an adventure that feels ripped straight out of a Clone Wars video game. Players must navigate the bright hallways while taking out battle droids, super battle droids, droidekas, and even a few Magna Guards. All that seems to be missing is the clones, but that is where the Galactic Empire come into play.

The Galactic Empire and the Bedlam Raiders do not get along, and players will see them duke it out multiple times. While the Empire is not the Republic, seeing stormtroopers take on droids feels like a blast from the past. Since the Empire has a very similar aesthetic to the Republic, players could trick themselves into thinking that they are witnessing a long-lost Clone Wars battle. It may not be a Clone Wars game, but these aspects bring it eerily close to that riveting era.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor often feels like a Clone Wars game in all but name. The focus may be on the Empire and a High Republic Jedi, but the Bedlam Raiders feel like a love letter to the prequel trilogy. While a developer could secretly be working on a title set during that period, this love letter may be the closest that Star Wars fans will get to a Clone Wars era game for a little while. Hopefully, an actual game happens one day, but fans will just have to experience Cal Kestis' journey as they wait.
