Star Wars Jedi: Survivor players have figured out how to recreate a classic Star Wars Legends character in the brand-new game. Character customization is at the heart of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and players are already using it to bring old favorites back to life.

Those who are able to experience Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at its full potential are a lucky bunch. The game has crippling performance issues on PC, making it borderline unplayable on even the most powerful of systems. It's been an unfortunate issue lately that seems to be recurring, with The Last of Us Part 1 also having a disastrous launch due to performance. While bad PC ports have always been a thing, hopefully it doesn't become a common theme in the industry. EA has already issued a statement on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's performance problems, so there's hope for players yet. Even with the issues, fans will be able to appreciate the ability to remake a beloved character from old Star Wars content.

The character in question is Kyle Katarn, who became popular in the Star Wars Jedi Knight game series during the late 90s. Unfortunately, during the Disney era of Star Wars Katarn has been relegated to Legends status, meaning he's no longer a part of the official canon. Redditor NotJustJason98 has shown a way to pay homage to him in the newest game, by using the Bandolier jacket for Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The similarities between the two can't be denied, even down to the single pauldron. It's a great reference to a bygone age of Star Wars, but one that shouldn't be forgotten.

Players in the thread have noticed other outfits in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor that look like other characters from the franchise. The Outrider set that Cal is able to equip resembles the famous smuggler Dash Rendar, from the Shadows of the Empire multimedia project. These homages are great, and there are surely more to be found. One Star Wars Jedi: Survivor player even found a niche Attack of the Clones reference during the Coruscant mission, so it's clear the developer hasn't been afraid to reference areas of the franchise that not everyone loves.

Despite the launch issues, the future of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is extremely exciting. The game itself has been given rave reviews by critics, with praise reserved for its strong gameplay iterations over the original, which was already well-received. If it can be fixed in a quick enough manner, Jedi: Survivor still has time to reach iconic status. There are plenty of examples of games broken upon release that go on to become fan favorites, such as Cyberpunk 2077. If Respawn's latest release can follow a similar trajectory with that level of post-launch support, it will be just fine.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
