Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s bounty hunters are a late-game nuisance who appear suddenly on different planets after the player has bested Sorc Tormo on Ordo Eris. This is a surprise on a first playthrough since the player will be backtracking through areas they have already been to and enemies with health bars at the top of the screen will now be there to ambush them, and instills intimidation in fans for future areas that could spring a pair of bounty hunters on them. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor reprises bounty hunters, but makes them a much more rewarding feature.

Among Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's biggest changes are the many new features compared to its predecessor, with many of them being implemented as a result of two planets having a much larger scale to them. Koboh in itself is incredibly extensive with many optional secrets to explore, including NPCs that can be recruited and talked to at the cantina in Rambler’s Reach. These NPCs can offer rumors for players to pursue and present unique features such as Holotactics, but Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Caij Vanda rewards players handsomely for completing bounties with available skills for the blaster combat stance.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Lets Cal Kestis Become the Bounty Hunter This Time Around

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor reintroduces bounty hunters from Fallen Order’s Haxion Brood, but this time around it is the player who gets to hunt them. Bounty hunters only appear as three different enemy types in Fallen Order—the bounty hunter, brawler bounty droid, and shock commando—but they are often paired in a mix-and-match assortment that requires players to adapt to their attacks accordingly.

It can be difficult to concentrate on one bounty hunter’s attacks while the other is also attacking for example, especially while paired together and appearing in a tight area. Moreover, these encounters are intimidating because each bounty hunter pair disappears from that location for the time being if the player is defeated by them, meaning that players essentially have one inopportune chance to beat them.

Bounty hunters are in many locations in Jedi: Survivor, still laying in wait, but instead of disappearing if the player perishes in combat, they will be there from then on until it is Cal Kestis who comes out on top. Two new bounty hunter types are introduced in Survivor as the gunslinger and grenadier, which helps to make these encounters more dynamic, and Caij’s rewards for turning their bounty pucks in are highly rewarding if players are partial to the blaster stance.

Caij’s Bounty Pucks Reward Unique Blaster Stance Abilities

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s blaster stance is one of two new options, and its independent skill tree allows for increased bolt ammunition as well as a satisfying Quick Draw ability. The blaster also initially only has the Charge Shot.

However, players can purchase three other blaster stance abilities from Caij’s Bounty Board in Rambler’s Reach’s cantina. Here, Caij sells blaster component cosmetics as well for a bounty puck a piece, as well as unique droid slices that allow BD-1 to turn particular enemies to the player’s side.

It is neat to see the blaster stance tied into bounty hunting as gunslinger or swashbuckler role-play, and Caij’s three unique blaster abilities are perfect for players who adore the stance: Charge Shot Area will improve the Charge Shot to have it hit nearby enemies around the target; Ricochet fires a round that bounces off surfaces; and Stun Shot stuns a target and enemies nearby. Therefore, there are many great incentives for turning bounty pucks over to Caij in Rambler’s Reach, but the blaster stance benefits the most with distinct playstyles in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
