For Star Wars fans, the most important holiday of the year is rapidly approaching, bringing forth tons of nostalgia and potential announcements for the franchise. With May 4th less than a week away, the official Star Wars website has begun listing the events, giveaways, and discounts it has in store for its force-sensitive fanbase. Notably, current PS4 and Xbox One owners of the acclaimed title Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order are receiving a free cross-generation upgrade.

Prior to its release in 2019, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was already a highly-anticipated title among Star Wars fans and even Souls fans. It became so popular that Respawn Entertainment gave players doctor's notes in order to avoid work and stay home to play the game. Since then, the rumor mill has consistently hinted at the possibility of a Fallen Order 2 being in development. With the perfect reveal date around the corner, fans have been holding out hope that the sequel would finally be announced.

Today, the Star Wars website officially announced the next-generation release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, bringing to it numerous technical improvements for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game. Following the trend of other developers, the website also confirmed that current owners of the title would receive a free cross-generation upgrade, with more details to come. As a bonus, the standard and deluxe editions of the game are up to 70% off until May 12th.

It's far from an official Fallen Order 2 announcement, but on the other hand, this may be a way to begin building up hype leading to a May 4th reveal. Fallen Order was announced in the middle of an EA Play, not giving many fans the opportunity to keep a lookout for it and severely damaging its publicity. With the success of the first installment now set in stone, May 4th would be the perfect moment for a sequel announcement, even if it's contrary to EA's usual game reveals.

Either way, the potential for a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 announcement is becoming all the more likely, even if it has new competition in other genres. Lucasfilm Games is already taking a more active part in the development of Star Wars IPs going forward, so May 4th is sounding like the premiere date for some type of information. Of course, there's no telling what may happen over the next 5 days, so Fallen Order fans will have to wait and see.
