Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been out for over a month now, giving players ample time to pick the game clean and move on to the next big thing. This is nothing new for gaming, as most story driven, single player games tend to only capture the public's attention for a few weeks before viewers have gotten their fill of watching gameplay, and players have finished the title.

Something that some of the larger names do to increase fan engagement is to release a steady stream of DLC and expansions, in order to keep the game fresh for some time after launch. This has been the case for multiplayer games like Fortnite's Chapter 2 and the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1, as well as single player epics like Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

It's perfectly clear at this point that Respawn Entertainment needs to lean in on the Star Wars craze caused by Rise of Skywalker and try to reinvigorate the fan base by announcing new content to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order soon. There are plenty of ways that DLC could fit into the either the post-game or before leaving to the final location in the story. So, the question still remains: Will Fallen Order get any DLC in the future, and what would it look like?

A Whole New World

One of the major aspects of Fallen Order is it's Metroidvania type level design, where players traverse through a level before progress is stopped in one direction until they unlock the ability that will let them continue. While it is true that the game does struggle with striking a balance with all of the genres it merges together, this aspect is something that is implemented fairly well throughout the length of the game. However, once all of the abilities are claimed, there doesn't feel to be a level design that truly utilizes every new force power and BD-1 upgrade to their fullest.

This could easily be remedied by having a brand new DLC planet that is meant to be explored after completing the game and requires the use of every force power and upgrade in order to traverse. There doesn't have to be anything new added in the later levels, just a series of obstacles that requires the player to figure out which ability obtained on the long road to the end is best for each situation. Dathomir seems to attempt this, but the addition of the climbing gear halfway through the planet turns the later half into mostly climbing with other abilities quickly delegated to combat use only.

New Force Powers

Jedi Fallen Order

While exploring a planet using the abilities acquired in the base game would be the most welcome addition to Fallen Order, especially to improve on the already stellar combat in the game as opposed to traversal. Previous games, some of which are no longer canon, had abilities like Mind Control and Animal Friendship, that might be able to turn the tide of otherwise overwhelming encounters. Then again, Fallen Order can come up with an all new force power, or new way to implement a force power, in order to give players an edge.

Fabricating new force powers is nothing new for the current generation of Star Wars, and LucasArts video games in the past have been fast and loose with the lore, implementing abilities like Force Healing as a game mechanic for even minor characters. What exactly the new power could be is still up in the air, as it would have to be something that still fits into the Star Wars canon as well as gels with Fallen Order's gameplay. There wouldn't be much of a point if the ability isn't useful enough to make an impact, and it would be a disservice to the game to introduce an overpowered ability as well.

Further Explore the Zeffo

Zeffo

While a new world would be interesting, and the Zeffo seem to have spanned the galaxy long before even the Old Republic, simply returning to the planet Zeffo for additional lore could also be a great direction for Fallen Order DLC. The game only gives players a small glimpse of these early Force Wielders, with implications that they predate the Jedi Order, or could have possibly been the Prime Jedi from ancient times. A deeper understanding of who the Zeffo were and what ultimately became of the unfamiliar alien race could shed light on the nature of the Jedi from all of Star Wars canon.

The mysterious nature of the Zeffo is obviously a huge draw to the story surrounding them, but considering what it could mean for the history of Jedi, Respawn has a golden opportunity to make huge waves in Star Wars lore. It's not often that the game's have a chance to have a major impact on the lore of the franchise. Even the orders from The Emperor in DICE's Battlefront 2 are essentially null after the course of the game's 4 hour story, but what Respawn has done with the Zeffo could have a lasting impact on the canon as a whole.

Finding Eno Cordova

The fate of Eno Cordova is roughly hinted at in the game, suggesting that at some point the man was eventually caught be either the Empire or the Inquisition. However, it's never shown where Eno Cordova makes his last stand, nor who it was that took him down in the end. Getting some closure on Cordova's death, or exile if he did indeed survive, would be as welcome as learning more about the Zeffo.

Cordova himself could even be the way that players learn more about the Zeffo, essentially following the formula for the rest of the game with Cal following in the Jedi's footsteps. Needless to say, there are already endless possibilities to expand on whatever has already been established in Fallen Order, let alone if Respawn decides to craft a whole new story for the players to uncover. However, with no DLC currently announced for the game, it's likely that Fallen Order simply isn't going to be making any more content until a possible sequel comes around.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
