The latest Star Wars game to hit the market is a competitive free-to-play shooter called Star Wars: Hunters, which pits characters from all corners of the universe against each other in teams of four. Players will need to use their character abilities, environmental components, and effective match strategy to come out on top in each of the game's different modes.

To add some variety to the game, developers Zynga have launched Star Wars: Hunters with a number of different game modes that will be played in many iconic Star Wars-inspired locations, all of which have a different winning objective. With this in mind, players will want to know how to unlock every game mode in Star Wars: Hunters, as well as how they differ from one another.

All Games Modes in Star Wars: Hunters, Explained

Star Wars: Hunters features a number of game modes that you can play either solo in a team or with a party of your friends, all of which are competitive in their nature, but differ in their objectives. There are four different game types that you can play at the time of release, and it is important to be able to distinguish between them in order to choose the right character and battle strategy to win this competitive shooting game. Here are the four game types:

Squad Brawl

Much like the more popular game modes you see in titles like Call of Duty, Squad Brawl is a simple eliminator match that challenges players to be the first team to reach the elimination target. Points are awarded for each kill, and the team that reaches the target first or is in the lead when the time expires will pick up the victory.

Power Control

Power Control tasks teams with maintaining dominion over the majority of the three control points scattered throughout the map. Points are awarded in short intervals, and teams are awarded one point for each control point they own when the next interval is triggered, and teams must gain control of at least two control points to start scoring. The team that makes it to the target score of 100 first will be declared the winner.

Dynamic Control

Dynamic Control operates very much like Power Control, except that teams will fight each other for ownership of one control point. To add another layer of difficulty to this challenge, the control point will respawn to another random location after a short time has expired, meaning players won't be able to camp in a spot and will need to consistently change their battle strategy.

Trophy Chase

Much like the popular Capture the Flag game mode seen in many popular PvP shooters, Trophy Case requires teams to grab and keep possession of a target object to score points. There is no target destination for the trophy, so the objective is to have a team member avoid damage and hold onto the item until the team's score reaches the winning target of 100. Dropping the item stops the team's progress, and all players are aware at all times of the location of the trophy, whether it is in a player's hands or has been dropped.

How to Earn XP in Star Wars: Hunters

A post-match summary from Star Wars: Hunters for Sentinel

The key to progressing in your player level with your favorite Star Wars outlaw and unlocking additional content, like game modes, is by earning player XP. This is a relatively easy process, and simply requires player participation in matches to earn them.

To earn XP in Star Wars: Hunters, players will need to play any matches in the game, but can be awarded bonus XP for their feats on the battlefield. Additional XP is awarded to players for winning their match, for getting a high score in the game, and for earning objective-based badges throughout the match. You can see your badges and performance in the post-match summary, as well as being alerted at the time you earn them in-game. You can see how each badge was earned by pressing the Y button on Nintendo Switch while on the post-match summary page.

Player can earn a 10% bonus on their XP gained by inviting their friends into a party.
