  • A fan theory suggests that Ahsoka Tano and Cal Kestis may have met at some point, based on their similar abilities and involvement with the Rebellion.
  • The theory is supported by Ahsoka's use of psychometry in the Ahsoka series, which is a skill also used by Cal Kestis in the Jedi games.
  • While it's unclear if the theory is true, there are connections between the Ahsoka series and the Jedi games, making it a plausible idea worth considering.

Ahsoka Tano and Cal Kestis, two of the more popular current Jedi figures in the Star Wars universe, still have yet to meet, despite both being around during the same period. Or has it happened already? One fan certainly seems to think it's possible. But how plausible is this theory?

While Ahsoka Tano's name remains on the lips of many following the season 1 finale of the character's self-titled Disney Plus series, another Jedi occasionally pops up in conversations. That would be Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor's Cal Kestis, whose current story set during the height of the Galactic Empire's reign remains unresolved. But even though the Jedi games and Ahsoka are set during clearly different times, it wouldn't be all that farfetched to assume the two have met at some point. Nothing has been confirmed, but one fan offered a compelling theory.

Posting some thoughts on the Star Wars: Ahsoka subreddit, user bornicanskyguy introduced the possibility of a meeting between the two characters during at least one point. "Does anyone else think that in her earlier years, Ahsoka met Cal Kestis?" they mused. "I'm currently rewatching Ahsoka, and recently watched The Clone Wars and Rebels, and that's a lot of content, I can't remember if she ever sensed a memory from an object before. That is something that Cal Kestis does on the regular. I remember thinking while playing the Jedi games, that I've never seen that in Canon. Is it something Ahsoka has done before, and I'm forgetting? If not, does anyone else think she may have learned to do it from Cal?"

Ahsoka Tano and Cal Kestis performing Psychometry

The "sensed a memory" bit by Bornicanskyguy refers to Ahsoka using psychometry to sense what happened to Sabine after she (Ahsoka) was defeated by Baylan. Psychometry is a rare Jedi ability that allows users to sense past events by interacting with objects tied to those occurrences. It's a big part of the Jedi games as one of Cal's most powerful abilities. But he isn't the only one who knows it, as other users pointed out. Ahsoka technically could have learned it from any number of Jedi. But that doesn't close the door entirely on the theory.

"A lot of you are telling me that she probably didn't meet him ever because there were thousands of Jedi around during the Clone Wars," bornicanskyguy added, responding to comments about how fans likely won't see Cal Kestis in live-action anytime soon. "I'm more meaning that in her years between ep 3 and ep 7, when Cal is helping the rebellion and 'the path', Ahsoka is helping the rebellion.......I know we don't know what happens to Cal yet, because the 3rd game hasn't come out yet......but I feel like they could have met at some point during the rebellion, maybe during or after game 3 takes place." It's a solid theory, as both Cal and Ahaoka have played not insignificant roles in the fledgling Rebel Alliance at various points.

It's certainly an interesting theory that carries a bit of weight. Ahsoka contained a few references to the Jedi games, including a focus on the Nightsisters of Dathomir and some lettering in a language that appeared most prominently in those games. But only time will tell if these ideas are on the money. Here's hoping, because more Cal Kestis is always a fun idea, (if a bit dark after the events of Jedi: Survivor).

Ahsoka is available to stream on Disney Plus.
