Ever since Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order released in mid-November of last year, the game has been met with widespread critical success. Though, many fans of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order have been wondering for months now whether or not this game is simply a one-off title or the beginning of a new franchise entirely. Well, the CEO of EA now has an official answer to that question.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the most recent Star Wars game and is perhaps one of the most popular games of 2019. As of April of this year, the game has sold well over ten million copies worldwide, making it one of the most successful Star Wars games published by EA. Despite what EA originally thought, this more than proves that single-player games can still hold their own against online multiplayer games.

A little over six months have passed and fans have begun to wonder whether Fallen Order is a standalone title given the game's main story ended. However, in a recent earnings call, it was confirmed by EA CEO Andrew Wilson that Fallen Order is the first game in a new franchise. No other details regarding the game's sequel were mentioned, just that the franchise will continue past this first game. This could also mean that EA may decide to develop even more single-player Star Wars games in the future.

Though, admittedly this only confirms that the franchise will continue past this first initial game. No other details were included or touched upon, leaving much to be speculated. Will Cameron Monaghan be making a return as the main character Cal Kestis or will the next game feature an entirely new protagonist? What sorts of new gameplay mechanics will the game include? What new worlds can the player explore and discover?

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an excellent game that serves as a shining beacon of hope for people who want to see the return of single-player oriented Star Wars games. The game gave the player so much content to discover and explore, as well as a compelling narrative unique to the world of Star Wars, while also remaining faithful to everything that makes Star Wars excellent in the first place. A second game would certainly be welcomed by the gaming community.

Having said all of this, it's still too early to make any assumptions about what to expect from the sequel. Technically speaking, Fallen Order was never meant to be a third-person action game, but rather a first-person shooter. This is strange considering that EA has already produced Star Wars: Battlefront 1 and 2, both of which are first-person shooters. Then again, who's to say EA is still not quite sold on the idea of single-player games?

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
