Aspyr has just announced that the classic Star Wars game Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is getting re-released on modern consoles this August. There have been several beloved Star Wars games over the years, and Aspyr has helped keep them in the public knowledge by bringing them to current systems. Its most recent port was Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, a compilation of the first two Battlefront games that were released during the time of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy.

Another classic Star Wars game of that period was Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, an action-adventure title that launched a few months after Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones in 2002. Serving as a prequel to that film, Bounty Hunter told the story of Jango Fett, the notorious bounty hunter and father to the equally infamous Boba Fett, and how he was chosen as the genetic template for the Clone Army of the Republic. Players could use Jango’s assortment of Mandalorian weapons like blaster pistols and grappling hooks as they navigated through levels and tracked down bounties for bonus points.

According to a recent rating, last year's blockbuster Star Wars game may be headed to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the near future.

Now modern gamers will be able to strap on Jango Fett’s iconic helmet on August 1, when Star Wars: Bounty Hunter launches on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Aspyr Media announced this port earlier this week with a Star Wars: Bounty Hunter trailer that shows Jango leaping into action after being contacted by Darth Tyranus (aka Count Dooku) for a dangerous mission that takes him across the galaxy to eliminate a powerful Dark Jedi. Original Jango Fett actor Temuera Morrison can be heard voicing the Star Wars galaxy’s deadliest bounty hunter.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter Release Date

  • August 1, 2024

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter has been re-released a few times before this. In 2015, it was included in a collection of classic Star Wars games that was sold alongside a special edition PlayStation 5 console released to commemorate both Star Wars Battlefront and Disney Infinity 3.0. Limited Run Games also released a limited supply of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter physical copies for the PlayStation 4 in 2019.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter received mixed reviews at the time of its release, but is looked back on more fondly these days for allowing fans to take control of the dreaded Jango Fett in a story that demonstrated why he was the most feared bounty hunter in the universe - until his son Boba came of age, that is. Soon, gamers who didn’t get a chance to strap on Jango’s Mandalorian jetpack back in 2002 will be able to play this classic Star Wars title when it re-releases on modern systems on August 1.
