11 Obi-Wan’s Gift To Luke

When audiences first see Obi-Wan during his off-time from cutting fish off of a giant sea creature in the Dune Sea of Tatooine, he is bartering with a Jawa in his cave. The Jawa, Teeka, sells Obi-Wan a toy starship, the T-16 Skyhopper. It is a fun moment for fans, as they will recognize the toy as what Luke Skywalker plays with in A New Hope.

Not only is it a fun callback, but it’s a touching moment. It shows how Obi-Wan is trying to connect to Luke, and allow him to have a childhood without the burden of his fate as Anakin Skywalker’s son. Being the hidden child of Darth Vader wouldn’t be easy on anyone, and Obi-Wan just wants to gift the child a toy.

10 The Night Of Order 66

Ever since Revenge of the Sith, the creative team at Lucasfilm has been emotionally torturing fans with the remembrance of Order 66. It’s a tragic event that defines the future of the franchise, and almost everyone in the galaxy was affected by Order 66. It’s a lingering theme in Obi-Wan Kenobi, as every Jedi was affected, and is now hunted by the Empire.

The opening of Obi-Wan Kenobi follows Jedi and Younglings battling Darth Vader’s 501st Clone Troopers, all whilst Palpatine’s voice rings ominously and repeatedly in the background “Execute Order 66.” The phrase that activated the inhibitor chips to turn the Clone Troopers on their Jedi commanders.

9 Anakin And Obi-Wan Flashback

When fans tuned in to Part 5 of Obi-Wan Kenobi, none expected the show to open on a flashback that features Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker and Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi in their costumes from Attack of the Clones. This flashback runs throughout the episode and shows the dynamic between Master and Apprentice.

It’s a great scene that follows the tether between Vader and Kenobi as they figure out the next step of each man’s plan. To see the faces, and optimism in the eyes and smiles of the Jedi in the past is heartbreaking, knowing what happens to both of them.

8 Darth Vader Destroys A Ship

After ten years of hunting for his former Master, Darth Vader and his forces located both Kenobi, and a rebel group that assist hunted Jedi. On Jabiim, Vader approaches the hanger where he knows Kenobi will be. A ship flies off, to which Vader wastes no time or strength in suspending it in the air.

The fierce strength and power of Vader are terrifying, especially as he manages to ground a ship and rip it apart just by throwing his hands in a fit of rage. It’s a powerful and rageful moment that shows just how desperate Vader is to make Obi-Wan Kenobi pay for what he did to Vader.

7 Reva Was Warned

In the fourth episode, Reva and the other Inquisitors once again failed to capture Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is due to the rescue of Snow Speeders, to which one distracts Reva by shooting her with its blasters. Reva is trapped in combat, deflecting the blasters with her lightsaber.

After this scene, Darth Vader’s hulking stature storms toward Reva, and shouts in anger “You were warned, what defeat would bring.” We rarely see Vader so angry, especially vocally so. It makes the moment powerful with how he effortlessly Force chokes her in the air.

6 Obi-Wan Breaks Into Fortress Inquisitorius

With Reva kidnapping Leia Organa, Obi-Wan is left with no choice but to enter the belly of the beast. Kenobi follows the footsteps of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s Cal Kestus, and breaks into Fortress Inquisitorius. This location is on a moon that orbits Mustafar, and Kenobi dons a new set of Jedi robes and uses his lightsaber to find and rescue Leia.

There are some great moments with Obi-Wan in Fortress Inquisitorius. He finds a tomb of fallen Jedi and deflects many blaster bolts from Stormtroopers back into them. It’s great to see Obi-Wan back in form as an action man, and it is reminiscent of Obi-Wan’s sneaking through the Death Star in A New Hope.

5 Tala’s Sacrifice

A newly introduced character into the Star Wars universe was Tala Durith played by Indira Varma. This character was an imperial officer, stationed on the mining planet Mapuzo. Secretly, Tala was a spy, who used her rank in the Empire to help the Jedi. After taking Obi-Wan Kenobi and Leia Organa to Jabiim, Tala entered her final battle.

Tala was shot in the abdomen by a stormtrooper during the fight with Imperial forces on Jabiim. Their forces were overwhelming and began to swarm the entrance to the hanger which housed the many rebels inside. In her sacrifice, Tala used a thermal detonator to kill herself and many other Imperial forces to buy the rebels more time. It’s an emotional moment, as Kenobi watches helplessly as he loses yet another friend.

4 Anakin Skywalker Lives

Toward the end of the second episode, Kenobi prepares to ignite his lightsaber for the first time in 10 years to protect Leia Organa. Reva, an Inquisitor, taunts Obi-Wan and can sense his fear. Reva knows that Anakin Skywalker is alive, and this provides Obi-Wan with great terror and guilt.

The episode ends with Obi-Wan reaching out to Anakin through the Force, in utter shock that his friend survived their duel on Mustafar. Obi-Wan treated Anakin as his greatest failure, and could not strike the finishing blow. Audiences see Anakin open his haunting Sith eyes in a bacta tank, as he prepares for his reunion with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

3 Battle On Mapuzo

As Obi-Wan watches Vader terrorize the small colony on Mapuzo, he decides to flee so that Vader cannot harm any more people, and will have to chase after him instead. The two meet in silence before Vader ignites his lightsaber. Long has Vader waited for this moment, the reunion with his old Master, who cut off his limbs and left him to burn on Mustafar.

Vader is entirely disappointed with just how weak Obi-Wan has become. Kenobi is fearful of the machine-like Vader and clings to the hope that Anakin is in there somewhere. He is easily bested, and it does not satisfy the Sith Lord.

2 Qui-Gon Jinn Returns

qui-gon jinn as a force ghost

With hope restored in Obi-Wan Kenobi and his faith as a Jedi reinvigorating him to proudly show his Jedi attire on Tatooine and hang his lightsaber from his belt, Obi-Wan rides off in The Dune Sea of Tatooine in search of adventure. Only to find a familiar blue figure waiting for him.

None other than his former Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn. Played by the talented Liam Neeson, Qui-Gon appears as he did in The Phantom Menace, without a hole in his stomach from Maul’s lightsaber. It’s a great moment between the two Jedi Masters, and Obi-Wan rides off with Qui-Gon promising to train him.

1 Obi-Wan Kenobi Vs Darth Vader

darth vader and obi-wan kenobi rematch

Dubbed by the president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, as “The rematch of the century”, she certainly did not disappoint or overstate the event. Since the first episode, fans eagerly awaited the reunion of Vader and Obi-Wan and the epic fight that would tie into their meeting in A New Hope.

The fight in Part 6, the finale, is filled with action. Obi-Wan and Vader battle with their blue and red lightsabers, clashing blades and using the Force to attack each other. There’s a lot of emotion and weight in this fight, and it does not disappoint.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is available now on Disney Plus.
