DICE and Electronic Arts officially reveal a brand new gameplay trailer and announce the release date for Star Wars Battlefront's forthcoming Death Star DLC.

About a month ago, Star Wars Battlefront developers provided fans with an in-depth rundown of what they can expect from the impending launch of the science fiction shooter's Death Star DLC. Now, thankfully, DICE and Electronic Arts have decided to give both members of the Rebel Army and Imperial Guard alike a concrete release date for the expansion by way of a fresh gameplay trailer.

As seen in the trailer for Star Wars Battlefront's Death Star DLC below, the add-on is set to become available next week on Tuesday, September 20 for Season Pass owners' period of two-week early access and it will include lots of new content, such as a gameplay mode known as Battle Station, and five new maps. Not to mention, the expansion is primed to introduce the two heroes of Chewbacca and Bossk.

For those unaware, Chewbacca and Bossk will both have their own unique abilities and weapons, as is the case with all of the special heroes and villains in Star Wars Battlefront. To be specific, Chewie will have his famous multi-shot bowcaster, as well as a roar that increases the potency and effectiveness of nearby teammates. Meanwhile, Bossk will be able to utilize a vision with thermal qualities in order to see all of the figures on the battlefield.

Once Star Wars Battlefront's Death Star DLC officially releases, it will become the third add-on for the title's Season Pass, as previous expansions have included Jabba's palace in Outer Rim and the Cloud City of Bespin. Prior to Chewbacca and Bossk, the game's heroes have been Lando Calrissian, Dengar, Greedo, and Nien Nunb.

While the Death Star DLC may be the most highly anticipated expansion of the lot for Star Wars Battlefront, it won't be the last add-on to become available for the game. As it happens, DICE and EA have additional content based on the upcoming film in the franchise known as Rogue One: Scarif. Not only will it feature the titular tropical planet of Scarif, but also it will include the movie's characters Jyn Erso and Director Orson Krennic.

Although developers have provided a steady supply of post-launch content for Star Wars Battlefront, some fans of the science fiction series might have been somewhat disappointed by the final product, due to missing features such as a single-player campaign. Should that be the case, Electronic Arts has already promised gamers that Battlefront is going to have a sequel in 2017, meaning that there's always the possibility for creators to make up for what the original version lacked.

Star Wars Battlefront's Death Star DLC is set to release on September 20, 2016 for Season Pass owners on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
