Highlights

  • Boba Fett's jetpack and flamethrower make him a unique choice in Hero Assault, despite lacking a lightsaber.
  • Yoda's size makes him hard to target, and his force abilities make him a formidable opponent in combat.
  • General Grievous may lack Force powers, but his dual lightsabers and damage buff abilities make him a deadly force to be reckoned with.

The Hero Assault mode in Star Wars Battlefront 2 was one of the best features this series had to offer. Hero Assault itself features some iconic heroes and villains across the franchise, pitting them against each other in Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) for some chaotic battles that clash lightsabers, and blasters, in dangerous fights where each character has a unique look and set of abilities.

7 Things New Players Should Know Before Playing Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection

For players who didn't experience the original Battlefront games in 2004 and 2005, here's everything they should know about the new remaster.

The game mode can be fairly intense, and there are definitely some characters worth picking over others, to ensure that the Hero Assault is won by the side that has the right team set up, regardless of whether it's a Jedi or Sith.

7 Aayla Secura

A Fast Jedi With Two Handy Lightsabers

  • Abilities: Force Pull, Saber Throw, Force Jump
  • Equipment: Two Lightsabers

Aayla Secura may not be one of the Jedi that casual fans will recognize when playing through Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection. Her most notable appearance in the movies is when she is gunned down by a group of clone troopers during the Jedi Purge of Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith. However, Aayla Secura was still included in Hero Assault on the side of good, and fans will be glad that she was.

For starters, Aayla Secura wields two lightsabers at once. This means that she can charge into enemies and unleash a flurry of quick attacks before the enemy has a chance to respond. What's more, Aayla also has access to the force pull ability to bring enemies to her for another series of unexpected attacks. Few Jedi in this game are as quick in combat as Aayla Secura, and her Force Jump can get her out of a tricky spot when necessary.

6 Boba Fett

An Army Of Weapons & A Jetpack Make This Fett A Perfect Bounty Hunter

  • Abilities: Wrist Missile, Detpacks
  • Equpiment: Jetpack, Flamethrower, Blaster Rifle

Not all the playable characters in Hero Assault are Jedi or Sith. Both the heroes and villain team have access to a few notable characters from the series who do not have a lightsaber. One of the non-Jedi options on the villain's side is the dangerous bounty hunter, Boba Fett from the original trilogy. The absence of a lightsaber and force powers should make this character a poor choice for players in this feature, but Boba has plenty of tricks up his sleeve to help him stand out.

While many of the Jedi characters have access to a force jump to help them around the battlefield, Boba Fett is able to keep up with these characters with his trusty jetpack. Also, his flamethrower is a great weapon for clearing out a large group of enemies, and Jedi have little defense against this weapon. It will latch on to enemies, and slowly harm them until the fire is out. His father, Jango Fett, is also a playable option in Hero Assault, though Boba's access to Detpack explosives instead of Time Bomb's choice makes him a more viable choice for players. Choosing when to activate an explosive is more useful than waiting an allotted time.

5 Yoda

Small & Hard To Detect As He Runs Across The Battlefield

  • Abilities: Force Push, Force Pull, Force Jump
  • Equipment: Lightsaber

There are few players who will go into Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection without knowing who Yoda is. This small green puppet had a large role in training Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy and returned in all three prequel movies as a member of the Jedi Council. Yoda proves that size matters not, so it is understandable as to why he is included as a playable character in a game like this.

Fortunately, choosing Yoda in Hero Assault is a wise move for any player. His short stature makes him difficult to target in combat as he jumps around and lands his attacks. However, Yoda's mastery of the force is on full display here. He can use both Force Push and Force Pull in the game, which means players can use Yoda to throw enemies around like a ragdoll if they so choose. Then, it is easy to strike enemies who are lying helpless on the floor.

4 Darth Vader

A Tank-Like Sith That Few Enemies Can Stop

  • Abilities: Force Choke, Saber Throw, Flight
  • Equipment: Lightsaber

Many movie fans will cite Darth Vader as one of the best villains in film history. The fallen Jedi was the main focus of the prequel trilogy, and delivered the biggest plot twist in movies in the original series when revealing to Luke that he is his father. Therefore, playing as Darth Vader is a must for any Star Wars fan in Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection.

Star Wars: 5 Awesome Darth Vader Boss Battles

Darth Vader is the ultimate Star Wars baddie, so beating him in a boss fight is always a thrill.

Darth Vader is no slouch when it comes to combat in these games. Players get to confidently stride across the battlefield with this villain and strike down anyone in their path. More interestingly, though, Vader also has the power of flight. This means he can hover around and attack from above with little warning. If all that doesn't seem fun, Darth Vader can even stop enemies in their tracks with his powerful force choke. Stand and watch as enemies are powerless to stop their health bar from slowly being drained.

3 Asajj Ventress

A Sith Who Makes A Big Difference With Dual Blades & Starblades

  • Abilities: Force Push, Force Jump
  • Equipment: Dual Lightsaber, Starblades

Asajj Ventress was a late addition to the original Star Wars Battlefront 2. Both she and Kit Fisto were hero characters who were held back as DLC for the Xbox version of the game. Fortunately, players do not have to wait to play these characters in Hero Assault, as they are being included straight away in Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection.

As an assassin for the Sith, players should expect Asajj Ventress to be deadly. These expectations are a safe bet, as this villain has access to a speedy dual lightsaber attack. She also has access to throwing Star Blades and a force push to help her get out of any tight situation. In many ways, Ventress plays like a villainous version of Aayla Secura.

2 Darth Maul

Carrying A Unique Double Lightsaber Has Its Perks

  • Abilities: Saber Throw, Force Jump, Force Push
  • Equipment: Double-Bladed Lightsaber

There was a time in the late 90s when Star Wars fans thought they would never see their favorite galaxy far away on the big screen again. That is why the first trailer for The Phantom Menace almost broke the internet, a key moment being the reveal of Darth Maul's double-ended lightsaber.

Red Fly's Star Wars Darth Maul game was not meant to be, but what things are known about the project?

This double-bladed lightsaber is more than just for show, however. It allows the evil Sith apprentice to perform lightning-fast attacks in close combat in Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection. If he gets swamped by enemies, Darth Maul can also use his Force Push to get away from enemies quickly. Plus, the extra size of his weapon means that Darth Maul is also a ranged threat, as his lightsaber throws cover much more of an area.

1 General Grievous

Destroy Jedi Scum With Dual Lightsabers & Damage Buff Perks

  • Abilities: Rage Mode
  • Equipment: Four Lightsabers

General Grievous is one of the more complex characters to fight and play as in Battlefront, due to the fact that he can wield dual lightsabers. The character himself does not have access to the Force, so his abilities when it comes to jumping or pushing and pulling his opponents are completely null against Jedi, but his hatred runs deep enough for him to be more than viable.

Grievous' attacks are extremely deadly, and the fact that he is a close-range character means players can get far too close for comfort against their foes, easily wiping them out, and using their lightsabers to block a lot of damage that can spell fatal for other heroes. The rage ability is also great, as it provides a 50% damage boost for 15 seconds to Grievous and nearby allies.
