Highlights

  • Star Wars Battlefront has been successful in attracting fans with its multiplayer modes and engaging story campaign.
  • A potential Star Wars Battlefront 3 could draw from a wealth of Star Wars lore, including characters like Cal Kestis and the Rebels cast.
  • Starkiller, a popular character from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, could be a powerful crowd-control villain in Star Wars Battlefront 3, with his Force abilities and dual lightsabers. Balancing his abilities would be crucial for a satisfying gameplay experience.

If no new Star Wars Battlefront game is ever picked up in the future following the third reboot entry’s cancelation it would be a crying shame. Battlefront helped to bring Star Wars fans back into the fold of a multiplayer shooter, and Star Wars Battlefront 2’s story campaign was a fantastic bridge between established events in the present day of the timeline’s narrative. But even if fans hadn’t flocked to its campaign, its diverse multiplayer modes were a fantastic iteration of its predecessor’s and there are many more locations and characters that a Star Wars Battlefront 3 could feature.

It might have to dip into projects and series that aren’t in live-action, but a third Battlefront still has a wealth of Star Wars lore to draw from. Now would be the perfect time to adapt Star Wars Jedi’s Cal Kestis in a Star Wars Battlefront 3, for example, and the newly released Ahsoka series on Disney Plus could make the Rebels cast even more viable in a game adaptation setting. However, Galen Marek’s Starkiller is one Star Wars character who’s been pulled back and forth between non-canon games and teases of his debut into the current canon, and he deserves to be represented in a way that Star Wars Battlefront’s gameplay could honor.

Starkiller’s Popularity is Being Exploited in Recent Star Wars Stories

Starkiller is incredibly popular due to how unique Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was at the time, with its omnipotent Force physics, Force lightning, and dual reverse-gripped lightsabers heralding an abundance of exciting combat opportunities. But the narrative in the Force Unleashed games was arresting and tragic, too, and it’s disappointing that it was declared beyond Star Wars’ actual canon lore.

Interestingly, though, it seems like Disney has been trying to reel the character back into the spotlight a bit in recent endeavors, if only for a brief Easter egg or a way to retain fans’ attention. Starkiller’s armor would be on display in Andor, for instance, and a huge pull for Ahsoka was the question of whether Marrok was actually Starkiller or not.

The latter might not have been a theory or rumor proposed by Disney, but fans’ projecting that hope onto the character was a testament to his popularity nonetheless. In the meantime, it doesn’t seem any clearer as to what Star Wars’ plans are for Starkiller, but his adaptation into a third Star Wars Battlefront could be an excellent way to preserve what makes the character excellent in gameplay.

Starkiller Could Be a Frenzied Crowd Control Villain in Star Wars Battlefront 3

Starkiller is punctuated by a flurried rage that is commonly exhibited through huge blasts of Force pushes and chained Force lightning. These abilities could easily be adapted to the character in Battlefront, allowing him to clear massive hordes of opponents in front of him and make him a formidable force in any objective-based push.

Starkiller would seemingly require fairly lengthy cooldowns for abilities that are as strong as his, but in the meantime, he could brandish dual lightsabers and slash through opponents with immense crowd control potential as well. Balancing the character accordingly might mean his lightsaber attacks would need to be weaker than his Force abilities, but that could be forgiven depending on how easily he’s able to clear enemies in his path with the powers he demonstrates in The Force Unleashed.

Of course, he would need to be able to ragdoll opponents in this way. Otherwise, he might not feel as gratifying to play in Star Wars Battlefront as he did in The Force Unleashed. Therefore, he could be difficult to balance or go up against if fans are playing as meager B1 battle droids, but perhaps another lightsaber-wielding Star Wars character could cut him down if they were able to get close.
