One Star Wars fan has an idea for how a particularly beloved character could appear in the upcoming second and final season of Andor on Disney Plus. If the series wanted to, it could even bring up another obscure character who would fit nicely with the continuity.

Andor season 2 is already set to occur during some turbulent times in the Star Wars universe. Season 1 told the story of Cassian Andor's (Diego Luna) radicalization to join the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire, along with several other characters seeing their tales front and center. This included Stellan Skarsgård as the revolutionary rebel leader Luthen Rael, who will likely show up again. But given how Andor will span a larger timeframe in season 2, it might also establish some connections with some other notable characters.

Despite its reputation as some of the best Star Wars media ever made, Andor almost pushed the envelope further until Disney stepped in.

Fans on the Star Wars Speculation subreddit (started by Defiant-Ad4776) recently discussed how someone like Grand Admiral Thrawn might show up in Andor season 2, and their arguments make a lot of sense. The character was pretty active during this period in the timeline, with the original user suggesting compelling reasons why he could play a part in this relatively intimate story. For one, Thrawn's rebel nemesis Nightswan could easily have ties to his fellow radical player Luthen, offering a perfect entry point for the Grand Admiral into the series. Interestingly, it wouldn't be the only natural way for the character to integrate.

One of Andor's few character cameos involved the relatively obscure Imperial officer Wullf Yularen, who has been an ally of Thrawn throughout many stories. Between Yularen and a potential connection between Nightswan and Luthen, it would make logical sense for Thrawn to, at the very least, receive a mention in Andor season 2. Maybe it would give sniveling Imperial fanboy Syril Karn someone else to gush over so Dedra Meero could get some breathing room.

But would it mesh with how Andor has largely avoided cameos and references like other Star Wars shows lately? According to several other users in the subreddit, that may not be possible. Series showrunner Tony Gilroy has been taking the series on its own path, keeping things separate from the rest of Star Wars despite Andor depicting some pretty climactic moments in the overall continuity. Bringing in Thrawn might disrupt that idea, considering the Grand Admiral is a major player during this period. Andor is about the "little people" in the war and how their involvement can make a huge difference when they unite. Thrawn would expand that scope to where these individuals, like Cassian himself, are no longer as critical to the story.

After Thrawn returned to canon with Star Wars Rebels a while back and a subsequent prominent live-action appearance on Ahsoka last year, fans have been excited to see where the new Star Wars continuity might take him. However, they also want his appearances to matter rather than just having him show up as a glorified cameo. So, the idea behind this fan theory would have to be meticulously implemented to maintain the integrity of both Thrawn and Andor. However things go, this series has proven it knows what it's doing.
