The third and final season of Star Trek: Picard has been confirmed via an announcement by the cast at NewYork Comic-Con, where a trailer for the much-anticipated final season was also premiered. This conclusion to the series comes more than 3 decades after the cast of Picard’s original crew first lit up the small screen.

Star Trek: Picard is the with series in the Star Trek franchise and chronicles the adventures of Starfleet Admiral Jean-Luc Picard, who must leave his idyllic vineyard retirement to fight for the rights of a new kind of life form when the daughter of an old deceased friend reaches out to him. Over the next 2 seasons of the show, Picard quite literally gives his all to save people on the brink of extermination and hops through time to save the universe. The show has been quite popular with fans, and now the third season looks set to build on what many considered the perfect ending to The Next Generation.

The cast of fan-favorite Star Trek iteration The Next Generation were all in attendance at New York Comic-Con to reveal the trailer for Star Trek: Picard’s third and final season, which is set to not only raise the final curtain on Admiral Picard, but also serve as the final voyage for the rest of his compatriots as well. The trailer, which starts with Sir Patrick Stewart in his lead role as the titular Admiral being approached with dire news and ends with star of Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-worthy title Pulp Fiction Amanda Plummer’s swearing vengeance as Vadic, as well as confirmation that Professor Moriarty and the evil android Lore will be back.

The show’s final season will bring an end to the journey that was started more than 3 decades ago when Star Trek: The Next Generation first aired, going on to confer on history a long list of memorable and deeply impactful episodes. Gates McFadden, Jonathan Frakes, Mariana Sirtis, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, and Brent Spiner were all present at the unveiling and will be delighting fans with appearances over the course of the season, which will end with a definitive retirement for their characters. Whether this ending will be for better or worse remains to be seen.

Fans have been rabidly awaiting the final season ever since it was announced that members of the Star Trek: TNG cast would be joining the show for the conclusion to Picard’s story, with the news even attracting some older fans that might have long since departed from the franchise.
