Coming into the year, Square Enix had a number of projects in development that fans were eager to learn more about. The first was the mysterious action role playing title called Forspoken, a new IP coming from Luminous Productions with a Who's Who of writers like Amy Hennig, Gary Whitta, and Todd Stashwick to name a few. While the game was given an unfortunate delay to later this year, fans finally got more details and information about Forspoken through trailers and updates.

Square Enix's Final Fantasy franchise also has a pair of highly anticipated games, including Final Fantasy 16 which went conspicuously quiet after its reveal. After so much time under the radar, Sony's State of Play finally revealed a new trailer for Final Fantasy 16, though with a Summer 2023 release window, the launch is still pretty far off. However, Final Fantasy 7 is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and most fans were hoping for some new details on the upcoming second part of the remake.

Thankfully, it seems as though fans may get their wish as Square Enix announced a new celebration broadcast for Final Fantasy 7. The 25th Anniversary celebration stream kicks off on June 16 at 3pm Pacific, 6pm Eastern, 11pm UK. The stream is only set for 10 minutes in length and promises fans "a first look at all the information surrounding the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7."

While many fans are hoping to see something related to Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, it is worth noting that the announcement doesn't specifically mention any games in particular. In fact, the short length could be used to focus on the several spin-off projects in development related to the classic RPG instead. Last month, Final Fantasy 7 Remake's co-director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed thew 25th anniversary stream event and that it would be announcing "various things" though nothing specific was mentioned.

While many fans feel like this is the perfect opportunity to reveal something new, perhaps at the very end of the stream, Square Enix has not been shy about teasing Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2. Earlier in February, producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed the Square Enix's intentions to share new details on the highly anticipated game in 2022, but with half the year still remaining, there's no guarantee it'll be at this anniversary stream. New trademarks recently appeared online for Final Fantasy 7 that have yet to be revealed officially, so it's entirely possible fans will be seeing more on those next week instead.
