Characters are randomly generated, and battle conditions can vary from match to match, so coming out the victor will require a sound strategy, expert execution, and, at times, a little luck.

For players that are new to Squad Busters and are a little overwhelmed by the competitive nature of the game, there are a few strategies you can employ to help get on your feet and on the podium at the end of the match. If you are looking for some beginner tips and tricks for Squad Busters, then this article will offer you all the guidance you'll need.

Get Fusions for Attacking Characters

While evolving characters is the long-term strategy to growing and strengthening your team, creating Fusion characters is the short-term solution while in a match. To get Fusion characters, you'll need to get three of the same in your team. Once you select the third character, the three will automatically merge together and form one much bigger character that has a star inside its health circle.

Fusions of any kind are significantly more effective in the battlefield, but the best battle strategy is to aim to get any of your attacking players to a Fusion status. Whether it's melee characters like Barbarian, ranged specialists like Bo, or even magic wielders like Witch, Fusions can give you a huge advantage over players that don't have any in their squad.

Choose Resource-Heavy Characters First

In the early stages of a match in Squad Busters, players will prioritize building their team as quickly as possible to avoid being busted by AI or fellow players. To do this, you will need to open chests, which vary in their cost in coin, depending on how big your team is. To ensure you get off to a strong start, the first character you choose should be one that can get you some early coins.

While this strategy may not always work, given your character options are randomly selected, players should opt for a character like Greg or Goblin. With Greg, players can approach a tree straight away, which will contain gold and gems, whereas Goblin will reward you with bonus coins just for picking them, so you'll instantly be able to open another chest and pick an attacking character if desired.

Aim For A Balanced Team

While it may seem like the best idea to have as many attacking players on your team as possible, the best strategy in this popular mobile game is to try to have as much balance in your squad as possible. There are seven classes in Squad Busters, each with their own specialties that can greatly assist you in battle.

For example, using a mixture of ranged and melee attackers can help mix up your offense while a defender/tank absorbs damage from enemies. On the other side of this, using speedsters can help you get away from any attacking players, and resource collectors can help you make enough gold to continue to build your team.

Target Weaker Players

At its core, Squad Busters is a competitive fighting game where you will have the opportunity to, fittingly, bust other players and knock them out of the match. With this in mind, if you find yourself in proximity to another player that has fewer characters, or even fewer attacking characters, going in for the kill can reap some significant rewards if successful.

For starters, knocking out a player will reward you with a good amount of gems, depending on how many gems the losing player collected during the match, which can be a real difference-maker if the scores are close towards the end of a match. In addition to this, as a reward for defeating another player, you'll have the ability to unlock a chest for free, meaning you can bolster your squad with another character in your ranks.

Use The Battle Mod To Your AdvantageThe starting screen for a Squad Busters match showing the Battle Mod

Each match in Squad Busters will randomly generate the arena in which you play, as well as adding a Battle Mod. These mods are additional conditions that can significantly alter how you want to approach the battle to ensure victory. Some examples include Goblin Rush, which features a number of loot-carrying Goblins running around the arena, and Royal Hunt, which includes a plethora of ghost knights that will fight for you if you defeat them in battle.

To give yourself an advantage in a battle, consider the active Battle Mod going into the match and devise a strategy that capitalizes on this. If you're playing Loot Surge and are offered small windows of time to grab additional gems and coins, you may want to recruit a Speedster from your next chest to make the most of the opportunity.

Don't Be Afraid To Use Turbo Often

Players can collect spells throughout battles to use to their advantage in this mobile RPG, but all are granted one in particular that is rechargeable and can be used often. The Turbo spell is an incredibly useful boost that will come in handy when chasing down a vulnerable player or when trying to escape someone trying to bust you.

The Turbo spell can be used by holding the blue boot symbol on the right-hand side of the screen. This will be limited in its uses, but you can monitor how much fuel you have left according to how much of the blue circle is filled around the outline. There are generally opportunities to collect additional fuel via small boot-shaped loot items throughout matches, and they will stack, indicated by the number in the corner of the Turbo button.
