Spy x Family was one of the most popular anime series of last season, and the Forger family played a big part in its success. Loid Forger, the father in the family, is actually the WISE agent Twilight, one of the best spies in Westalis. Of course, the elusive spy Twilight, who plays the role of family man Loid Forger, is the most unknown member of the cast, with a past that has yet to be revealed in the anime proper.
While the Spy x Family anime was off the air, the manga continued to press on, giving fans more hilarious stories about Anya's antics, Yor's misunderstandings, and Loid's exasperation. Here and there, though, readers still get bits and pieces of his personality that shine in through even the silliest moments. 14 Loid Is Surprisingly Competitive
Twilight has always presented himself as a master spy whose cool demeanor and unflappability precede him. Only when he starts taking care of Anya and pretending to be a father and husband does he start experiencing things that leave him dumbfounded, and the man's stoic mask slowly crumbles throughout the series.
Surprisingly, he can also be quite competitive when he needs to be, such as when Handler Sylvia Sherwood challenges him to see which of their dogs is better trained. Despite needing a reward to be motivated to take part, Loid's competitive nature soon took over. Though the match ended up as a draw, it was interesting to see Loid having a more playful aspect to his personality.
13 Loid Wants To Use Yor's Friendship With Melinda Desmond
After the busjacking incident that took several children from Eden Academy hostage, Yor ended up becoming friends with Melinda Desmond, the wife of Donovan Desmond, Loid's target and the whole reason why Operation Strix exists. Though the two met coincidentally, Loid sees this as a sudden boon in his attempts to make contact with Desmond himself.
Until now, Loid has mostly been focusing on attempting to reach Donovan Desmond through Anya and her activities at school, mostly by trying to turn her into an Imperial Scholar. Unfortunately, those plans have fallen far short of expectations, and while Anya does have two of the eight required Stella Stars, they come far and few in between. To Loid, Yor's new friendship marks a new potential route to Desmond, and he encourages Yor to keep meeting with Melinda with that in mind.
12 Loid Struggles To Be A Cool And Fun Dad
Part of Loid's many struggles with Anya is trying to make sure that he is a satisfactory father to her, so he makes many attempts to appease her and keep her happy whenever she seems upset or even just bored. With her mind-reading abilities, Anya often notices when Loid is having these concerns, and frequently takes advantage of them to get something she wants.
A series of coincidences has Loid and Anya end up on the same ship where Yor is working as a bodyguard in her capacity as the Thorn Princess. In an attempt to keep Loid from discovering Yor during one of her fights against a potential assassin, Anya tells Loid that he needs to be more fun and lacks the proper appearance for a cool, fun dad. Shocked, Loid immediately attempts to undergo a drastic image change meant to give him the appearance of a cool, fun-having dad. Despite his efforts, Anya still finds him totally uncool.
11 Loid's Talents Are Wider-Reaching Than Expected
Loid is an incredibly skilled spy with nearly superhuman strength and speed, as well as unbelievable disguise abilities. His abilities have helped him to become an incredible spy, but Loid has obtained a number of skills that allow him to take on any role.
Loid has been shown to be an excellent spy, and he also possesses an incredible memory. However, he also has shown to be skilled in abilities less relevant to espionage, such as cooking. Loid has even been able to create a cartoon from scratch, with only Franky as help.
10 Becky Has A Crush On Loid
Becky Blackbell is Anya's best friend and one of the few people she interacts with at school. The two are attached at the hip and always come to each other's defense, and though the two of them come from very different backgrounds, they are like peas in a pod.
Becky is notably precocious for her age due to the soap operas she enjoys watching, and when she sees how handsome Loid is, she instantly falls in love with him. While her puppy crush isn't taken very seriously by anyone except Becky herself, it's funny to see her fantasies go wild.
9 Twilight Is Training Bond To Be A Guard Dog
Bond is the family dog and an esper with the ability to see the future. As a member of the Forger family, Bond generally lives a peaceful life. However, he occasionally gets involved in the dangerous missions that Twilight has to undertake as part of his duties, showing off his keen sense of intuition and intelligence.
Because of this, Twilight has started training Bond with the intention of using him as a guard dog. While Twilight may not actually plan to use Bond in his spy missions, he does hope to have Bond protect his family in case of danger.
8 Twilight Has An Associate Called Nightfall
Twilight is not the only spy at WISE; many spies make up the intelligence agency working to ensure peace between the West and the East. One of those spies is Nightfall, a spy who was trained by Twilight himself and is just as competent as he is.

While Nightfall openly presents a cold and stoic demeanor, she has a secret that she keeps to herself: she is madly in love with Twilight. Her only reason for not becoming Loid's wife was due to her being busy with a mission and yearning to take Yor's place in Twilight's fake family.
7 Loid Actually Works At A Real Hospital
Loid Forger, Twilight's false identity, is meant to be a psychiatrist who works in a hospital. Due to it mostly being a cover and fans never seeing Loid go to work once during the anime, it could be stated that this was just a cover story to explain what he does.
However, it's eventually shown that Loid does work at Berlint General Hospital as a genuine psychiatrist, and is known by his associates as a good doctor who is passionate about his work. Some WISE spies are also embedded throughout the staff at the hospital to help Twilight in his work.
6 Loid's Boss At The Hospital Dislikes Him
When he isn't handling his duties as a spy, Loid Forger works at Berlint General Hospital as a psychiatrist. Though it is merely a cover, Loid performs his job properly, earning the admiration of nearly everyone who works at the hospital.
One exception is the hospital director, who despises Loid due to jealousy and his unpopularity with the staff. Loid has done his best to try to get on the director's good side, but his good nature and kind demeanor only serve to make his boss more jealous.
5 Twilight's Father Was Abusive
In his childhood, Twilight had a fairly troubled relationship with his father. Twilight's father was a demanding man who insisted that Twilight focus on studying hard instead of playing with his friends, and berated him for wanting to be a part of the military, calling him a coward that the military wouldn't want.
Despite talking about wanting peace between the East and West, Twilight's father was a fairly violent man, hitting Twilight when wanting to scold him and fighting with his wife frequently. While Twilight's father had his good points, overall Twilight only remembers him as a terrifying man.
4 Twilight Used To Be A Soldier
Ostania's relentless attacks on Westalis ultimately caused Twilight to lose his family and his friends, driving him to despair. After living a long life in which he tried desperately to keep himself alive, Twilight eventually became a soldier, using the identity of a dead man.

As a soldier, Twilight fought mostly to take revenge for the deaths of his loved ones. His career in the army continued until his impersonation was discovered by WISE, upon which he was recruited to become a spy. His experiences in the war have clearly influenced his desire to prevent war between the two countries.
3 Twilight Met Franky In The War
Franky is the closest thing Twilight has to a friend, though he'll probably never admit it. As a spy, Twilight mostly relies on Franky for information, though he also relies on him to babysit Anya and occasionally Bond. While Franky always complains about these jobs, he has never attempted to get out of them either.
It is eventually revealed that Franky and Twilight first met in the war between Westalis and Ostania. Although they were on opposing sides, the two of them chose not to fight each other. The two would eventually part ways until eventually meeting again as a spy and informant.
2 Twilight Doesn't Remember His Own Name
Loid Forger is not Twilight's real name; it is merely an alias created for his life in Ostania. Twilight, of course, is also a codename meant to protect his privacy and isn't his real name either. The viewers have never actually heard Twilight's real name, as he has never said or revealed it in any way.
In fact, it's possible that Twilight's real name may never be revealed, as even he does not seem to be able to remember his own name. In flashbacks to the past, his name is blacked out when it is said by friends, and he is mostly referred to by his old nickname, Advisor.
1 Loid Still Doesn't Fully Trust Yor
Loid and Yor have been married for quite a while now, and while neither have clued each other in on their secret lives, they seem to have created a sort of bond. While their marriage is fake for now, fans of the series are excited for the day false love becomes true.
That day may take longer to come than expected, as Loid still doesn't completely trust Yor yet. Whenever a strange situation involving Yor suddenly crops up, Loid can't help but doubt if Yor isn't more involved than she lets on. While Loid often puts his doubts to rest easily, it is telling how he can't bring himself to trust in Yor fully.
