Spy x Family has been one of the top new anime since its release in early 2022. Created by Tatsuya Endo, the manga began its circulation in 2019. The series follows a spy, who's adopted the alias Loid Forger, as he is tasked with a mission by his agency. In order to carry out his mission, he must create his own family. Eventually, Loid adopts a girl with telepathy and marries an undercover assassin.

The Forger family is carefully constructed and consists of individualistic characters, making them the perfect family. Although each character is unique in their own way, the characters complement and genuinely care for each other. While both Loid and Yor are deeply loved by fans of the series, Anya is the star of the show. Her tenacity to succeed (and failing for the most part) is so unlike her parents that it makes the readers sympathize with and root for her. Both manga readers and anime watchers share the same love for the show and characters. However, manga readers know more about the arcs and characters due to the manga's progression. Here are eight things only manga readers know about Anya Forger.

The following contains spoilers for Spy x Family.

8 Anya Was Once Known As Test Subject 007

Anya's hands pressed up against a window

Before Anya became Loid's daughter, she had endured so much pain and hurt when she was simply a test subject. Her powers emerged during that time through experimentation. At the same time, she was called "Test Subject 007." She eventually became "Anya" after she escaped the facility and ran away. Spending her first couple of years at a lab and being treated as a test subject has only made Anya skeptical of people, particularly those who know about her telepathy.

Her social, emotional, and educational development is lacking, which explains why she does not do very well in school. Despite this, Anya is empathetic and genuinely cares about other people, which is arguably the most important thing about her.

7 Her Telepathy Doesn't Work During the New Moon

Anya is playing with her toys, a bear/dragon and penguin stuffed animal.

In Chapter 26 of the manga, Anya reveals that her power doesn't work during the new moon. This becomes quite a predicament for her because she had planned to cheat off of Damian Desmond using her mind reading on her exams. Therefore, she has no choice but to study. When Yor's brother Yuri visits their home, Yor asks him to help Anya study. Naturally, his love for his sister prompts him to agree.

Unfortunately, after helping Anya for quite some time, Yuri realizes that there is no hope for her and storms out, angry that she wasted his time. However, Anya decides to study in her room for a few hours. When Loid returns home and picks up her workbook, Yor boasts about how their daughter had been studying very hard. Unfortunately for Anya, Loid notices that the subject she had been studying is not going to be part of the midterm. Ultimately, she receives failing grades on all of her midterm subjects.

6 She Decides To Keep Bond After He Saved Her Life

Bond when he first appears in the anime.

Of all the dogs she had met, Anya chose Bond for a particular reason. In Chapter 22 of Spy x Family, Bond protects Anya when a group of men threatens her. Loid is adamant that Bond is not the right dog for them, especially because he is aware of the dog's history.

However, after Anya threatens her father that she will quit the Academy if she does not get this dog, Loid hesitantly concedes, and the Forgers adopt Bond.

5 She Names Bond after Bondman from Spy Wars

Anya when Bond saves her in the manga.

Knowing she can't keep calling her dog' doggy,' Anya begins brainstorming potential names for her dog, such as 'fluffy.' However, nothing she comes up with feels entirely right. When Loid, Yor, and Anya visit a dog park following the adoption of their new companion, Anya struts throughout the park, questioning other owners about the names of their dogs and the reasons behind giving them those names. Despite this, nothing sticks.

As Loid informs Anya that it's time for them to return home, she panics at losing her gloves. She quickly discovers that another dog has them clutched between his teeth, but she's unable to recover them as the dog displays aggression. However, Bond quickly swoops in to help her and intimidates the dog into releasing her gloves. This heroic act reminds Anya of Bondman from her favorite show, Spy Wars, and just like that, Anya's dog becomes Bond.

4 She Does Not Like Fiona

Anya is staring at Fiona in disbelief and shock.

Anya learns that she does not like Fiona, another WISE spy who works undercover with Loid at the hospital. This feeling emerges after Fiona visits their home to intimidate Yor while Anya and her father are not home.

However, when they return home, Anya accidentally reads Fiona's thoughts and discovers that she is in love with Loid and believes she would be a better wife to him and mother to Anya. Anya is horrified at the idea of someone else replacing Yor, so she rushes to her mother to show her appreciation.

3 She Calls Golf 'Goof'

Loid Forger carries Anya after she fell asleep.

During the Princess Lorelei arc, Anya spends most of her time with Loid because her mother is secretly on a mission. At one point, Anya realizes she must distract Loid and keep him busy so she can sneak away.

Therefore, when she spots an indoor putter golf within the ship, she immediately brings it to her father's attention, stating that she really wants to play 'goof.' However, her attempt to sneak away fails when she realizes he has finished the game so quickly.

2 She Lied to Her Classmates To Gain Attention

Anya is smiling to herself at school

Following her short break on Princess Lorelei, Anya returns to her academy. While the students recount their vacation spots and the things they did (including staying in a five-star hotel and riding a helicopter), Anya boasts about her time on Princess Lorelei. However, when she realizes that the other kids are looking down at her because they had also been on Princess Lorelei, she exclaims that there were about one hundred villains on the ship from countries all over the world.

Her classmates seem curious at first but quickly lose interest after not recognizing any of the villains (or their significance). This is when Anya begins fabricating stories about 'Octo-People' and her experience with them. However, it sounds overly ridiculous, and the other kids don't believe her, anyway.

1 She Isn't Interested in Romance

Anya and Becky are sitting together during lunch.

Anya's best friend, Becky, is a huge fan of romantic shows (and romance in general). However, unlike Becky, Anya does not care for romance, nor does she see the purpose in watching it. Instead, Anya prefers spy shows, such as Spy Wars, because it involves mystery, action, and adventure.

When Becky and Anya are playing together, the latter is not particularly interested in playing 'house' or making their toys 'fall in love.' However, when a romantic theme appears in Spy Wars, Anya believes she will finally have something pertaining to romance to talk about with Becky.
