Spy X Family, through its seamless blend of espionage, romance, and family, reached unprecedented popularity and preference shortly after its debut in 2022. The series explores a world where intelligence-gathering and even telepathy are commonplace. A notable feature of the series is its unconventional portrayal of intelligence officers as it delves into work-life balance infused with heavy familial elements.
It shows a more humane side to these individuals even under the requirements of a mission, especially from the perspective of its central character, Loid Forger, also known as Twilight. The series, with its centering grip on intelligence gathering and secret missions, is home to agents of camouflage other than Twilight himself. 6 SSS Lieutenant
The Lieutenant is an unnamed supporting character of the series. Affiliated with the Ostania State Security Service of the East, he is a counterintelligence agent and the direct superior of Yuri Briar, a significant character in the series and brother to Yor Forger. Portrayed as a tall and intimidating individual, the Lieutenant is a rather conspicuous figure due to scarring across the left side of his face, giving him an ominous look. Mostly appearing in his military uniform, the Lieutenant is stern and committed to the purpose of his office: finding and eliminating enemy spies and traitors, mainly from the West, particularly the agent Twilight.
Despite his rigid outlook, he shares a relatively cordial relationship with his subordinates, Yuri Briar especially, showing a more humane side to his cold demeanor as an agent and towards enemy targets. Actively involved in interrogating captured enemy spies, the Lieutenant is skilled in interrogation and does not concern himself with how he obtains information, as he will do so by any means. Given his interrogation skills, he does not operate as a field agent but rather behind the scenes.
5 WISE agent
Another unnamed supporting character of the series, the WISE agent, is a spy affiliate of the Westalis WISE agency with connections in Ostania. The agent is shown to be an older man with a conspicuous and stylishly shaped mustache, adding to his elderly appearance. He is a reliable ally to the on-field members of WISE in Ostania, including Twilight himself. Although seemingly carefree, he is adept at information gathering in any form, ranging from physical conversations to Television news to provide his Handler.
Although much experienced, He is also described to be impulsive at crucial moments, the most notable coming during the terrorist plot to assassinate the Minister. Aside from impressive intelligence-gathering, the agent is also highly skilled in the art of disguise, second only to Twilight himself in the series, and he is also an expert marksman capable of hitting his targets even in moving vehicles. Throughout the series, he majorly assists Twilight with his missions.
4 Slyvia Sherwood
Sylvia is the primary contact between Westalis's WISE agency and its agents in Ostania, especially Twilight. Also known as the Fullmetal Lady or Handler, Sylvia is portrayed as a woman with a tall build and slender figure. Little is known about her personality outside her work as Handler. Still, like Twilight, she's intensely focused and dedicated to maintaining the peace between Westalis and Ostania.
She also displays compassion towards children and animals alike, as she showed towards Anya due to losing her daughter, who was also around the same age as the little girl. Despite being an intelligence agent, Sylvia has a long-standing disdain for war and its thoughts. Like any other WISE agent, she is skilled at the art of disguise and equally an impressive hand-to-hand combatant but at a slightly lower level due to her age, which, although not explicitly stated, is evident due to her constant bouts of shoulder and back pains after engaging in combat.
3 Fiona Frost
Codenamed Nightfall, Fiona Frost is another agent of WISE and a central recurring character in the series. Using her cover as a nurse at the General Berlint Hospital, where Twilight is stationed as a doctor, she assists with mission details regarding Operation Strix. Portrayed as cold, Fiona is a woman of an elegantly slender build with a pale complexion and is generally regarded as emotionless.
Beneath her expressionless demeanor lies an obsessive infatuation with her once instructor, now mission partner, Twilight, as she is shown to act on impulse where it involves him, even to the point of jeopardizing the mission. Other co-workers regard her as being overly ambitious. Despite her crude methods and manners, Fiona is a relatively competent agent with equally impressive physical capabilities and heightened senses, which work in tandem with a single-minded focus to achieve her objectives, especially where it concerns Twilight.
2 Yuri Briar
Yuri is one of the significant characters of the Spy X Family series and brother to Yor Forger, the pretend wife of Loid Forger. A young man in his early twenties, Yuri is also an agent of Ostania’s State Security Service, a job he keeps secret from his beloved older sister. At the same time, he pretends to work as a casual civil servant. His most notable trait in the series is his sister complex, due to his mother’s death at a young age, leaving him very attached to his sister, who becomes a mother figure to him.
Contrary to his obsessive manner regarding his sister, Yuri displays a calm and appealing demeanor when he is on duty, carefully retrieving information from enemy spies and being just as patriotic regarding his nation. As an agent, Yuri is brilliant and logical regardless of how he may act. Besides that, he is also proficient at interrogation, suggesting he might be poor in other areas. However, this is not the case, as Yuri is also adequately skilled in hand-to-hand combat and is an excellent marksman.
1 Forger
Loid Forger, also known as Twilight, is the central character of the Spy X Family series. According to the story, his real name is unknown, as Loid Forger is a name forged for the sake of the mission. Pretend father and husband to Anya and Yor Forger. Loid is portrayed to be handsome, tall, and with a slim athletic build. With his age unknown, his personality is cold and calculating, as expected of a spy, allowing him to fit into whatever he has to become for the sake of his mission. He, however, shows a more relaxed and caring side to himself in the presence of his new family, especially towards his daughter.
Known to be Westalis’s greatest spy, this title is not undeserved, as his skill and poise are second to none in the series. Loid is capable of a level head in extreme situations, backed up by incredible proficiency in combat, whether armed or unarmed and also possesses heightened physical capabilities and senses. As a spy always required for infiltration, Loid is adept at the psycho-analysis of multiple individuals around him and has a high level of intellect. Another notable skill is his seamless blend of disguise; he is a true master of the art and equally skilled at trap formations. Also a quick learner, Loid can pick up new skills in relatively short periods as long it increases the efficiency of success for his mission.
