SILVER LINK Studios' long-awaited second part of The Misfit of Demon King Academy Season 2 is nearing its arrival after its postponement in the Winter 2023 season, due to a COVID-19 outbreak that ultimately affected production work. Thankfully, the delay only lasted six months, and fans won't have to wait much longer for its release, which is slotted to be a part of the Spring 2024 schedule. The studio also confirmed that the second part of Season 2 will cover the Selection Judgment Arc, the fifth arc of the original series.

The Misfit of Demon King Academy is based on the light novel series by Shu and Yoshinori Shizuma, covering the tale of Anos Voldigoad, a Demon King who takes great pleasure in the eradication of humans and spirits, even going as bold as to challenge the Gods of his world. Ultimately, Anos grew tired of war and reincarnated 2000 years into the future, hoping for a world of peace. It was there that he found the magic that ruled the world to have decreased to unfavorable levels, forcing him to re-enter Demon King Academy to educate those who had grown weak.

The Selection Trial Arc

Following the conclusion of the Great Spirit Arc, which touched on the first two parts of Volume 4 of the light novel, fans should expect to dive into the next chapter, which begins with the Selection Trial Arc. The previous arc featured many great battles, with Anos earning victories over Nosgalia, Zeke Ozma, and Avos Dilhevia, destroying all three while turning Zeke Ozma into his owl and reincarnating Misa as a pure spirit, following her defeat. This decision allowed Misa to reunite with her parents, while earning Anos the title of the Demon King of Tyranny.

Anos won't be short on challengers in the Selection Trial Arc, as he'll be prominently featured just as much as in the previous arc. New discoveries will be made, as Dragons will begin to roam the world, having once been believed to have gone extinct, while Anos will traverse the Underground World for the first time, learning a cruel fate that awaits him, and a decision made for him.

This is a wonderful re-entry into The Misfit of Demon King Academy, as it raises the stakes of Anos and his rise as Demon King of Tyranny, while adding an extra element of surprise. Though Anos remains as powerful as ever, with very little challenging his magical abilities, the situation becomes more concerning when he is thrown into battles that were once thought to be finished. This will undoubtedly lead to new partnerships, forcing Anos to rely on the help of others as he focuses his attention on bringing an end to the Selection Trial. Who will take his side and what may come of it is exactly what makes this arc so exciting.

As Anos discovers the deeper roots of the Underground World, he'll meet one of the three great countries that inhabit the world. Anos will learn of the existence of Draconids in the surrounding area, where land is governed to hold acceptable living conditions for both humans and demons alike. Draconids are said to be the successors to their dragon ancestors, with relation to both humans and demons. Those who are born from dragons directly hold the title of Child Dragons, possessing greater powers than any other Draconid race.
