  • The game's developer is also helping develop the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake.
  • Fans will likely have to wait a while longer for updates on the game.

Gamers looking forward to seeing their first glimpse of the upcoming Splinter Cell remake may have to wait a while longer, as a trustworthy insider has alleged that the title won't be getting a reveal trailer anytime soon. Given how long fans of Ubisoft's iconic stealth franchise have impatiently anticipated an update on the next installment in the series, this report will likely disappoint many if it turns out to be true. At the very least, though, the news that Splinter Cell may be a potential no-show in the immediate future will help to keep fans' expectations in check for the upcoming gaming showcases scheduled throughout the remainder of June 2024.

The Splinter Cell remake was unexpectedly revealed by Ubisoft in December 2021, with nothing more than a behind-the-scenes developer video and a hiring announcement. At the time, the French publisher didn't share much information on the title, since it was so early in production. It did reveal, however, that Ubisoft Toronto—the creators of 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist—would be the studio tasked with leading development on the game. Recently, though, Ubisoft announced that its Toronto division is now collaborating on another project, as the studio is currently working alongside Ubisoft Montreal on the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake. Some took this as a sign that the next Splinter Cell game may have wrapped up production and could be close to release, but it sadly appears that isn't the case.

In response to a tweet from IGN's Ryan McCaffrey about Splinter Cell potentially making an appearance at the Ubisoft Forward event on June 10, the reputable insider Shinobi602 posted a GIF of a Magic 8 Ball with the words "outlook not so good" emboldened onto it. When asked by a Twitter user what the developers at Ubisoft Toronto were even doing, Shinobi602 simply replied by saying that there's "nothing bad" going on with the title, just that it "needs more time." Unfortunately, though, he didn't provide any suggestions on when exactly the game could be ready for a full reveal.

Don't Expect to See the Splinter Cell Remake at Ubisoft Forward

Though this news may disappoint fans, it could suggest that Ubisoft is taking its time to ensure this remake ends up being one of the best Splinter Cell games yet. Time will tell if it lives up to the hype.

With the Splinter Cell remake seemingly being out of the picture for any of the upcoming summer showcases, gamers may have to wait until late 2024 or 2025 for an update on the title. In the meantime, though, Ubisoft fans have 5 other games to look forward to that'll likely make an appearance at the company's event on June 10, like Assassin's Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, The Division Resurgence, XDefiant, and Rainbow Six Mobile. After those titles come out, Splinter Cell's release hopefully won't be too far off behind.
