Splatoon 3 added a lot of new customizations for players, ranging from more styles in character creation to lockers that can be decorated. Customization additions have even been included more in combat, with players able to decorate banners for all others to see before the battle. After the battle, players can also see each other's personal emotes.

These unique Splatoon 3 emotes are gained in two ways. The default emotes are weapon-dependent, while unique ones can be obtained via tableturf and catalog levels. All but one emote is actually obtained through catalog level. The hardest catalog level emote to get is the Double-Cross Dab, which is obtained at catalog level 98. Here's how to get there.

How To Get To Catalog Level 98

Harmony talking.

It is important to know that the catalog of Splatoon 3 is seasonal, so the rewards are not guaranteed to be around forever. This means players that really want the dab emote will have until the end of Drizzle Season 2022 to get the emote (though it may appear again in other seasons). Drizzle Season 2022 is set to end on November 30th, 2022, so players will want to get to level 98 before then to get this dab emote.

Raising catalog level means doing a lot of Salmon Run and Turf Battle content. The most catalog points are won on the first win of the day. So make sure to win at least one game every day before the reset. That alone will not get a player to catalog level 98 in time, though. They will need to grind for catalog experience points.

While grinding for the catalog, players should also work on grinding their regular level. Increasing the player character level makes grinding easier and easier with more weapons and abilities unlocked. So always use XP boosters while grinding.

One of the biggest pieces of advice players are sharing is to pace oneself. Knowing that the Drizzle Season will end on November 30th is a boon, as a player can make a plan to go up a couple of catalog levels every day until they are level 98. With simple math, players can calculate how many catalog levels they should increase per day to get the emote before the Drizzle Season ends.

Getting the dab emote will mean getting a ton of other rewards through the catalog. A player who gets to level 98 in the catalog will already be showered in tableturf cards, gear, titles, banners, food tickets, stickers, decorations, and other emotes such as the No Chill, Stuntin', Breakin', and Victory Strut emote. All rewards are picked up at Hotlandis.
