Nintendo has released the full details for update 5.0.1 for its third-person, ink-based shooter, Splatoon 3. This news comes fresh off of Thursday’s Nintendo Direct where the DLC for Splatoon 3, called Side Order, finally received a release window.

Splatoon 3’s Drizzle Season 2023 began on September 1, and with it came a ton of new content for fans of this online multiplayer shooter. Included in the new content are new stages, new weapons, Salmonid Smokeyard from Splatoon 2, and 12 new tableturf battle cards. And now, the first update has been released for the season, 5.0.1.

Update 5.0.1 brings a series of bug fixes to the Splatoon 3, starting with the player controls. This includes fixing a bug that allowed players to climb unclimbable walls in some cases after performing a Squid Roll off of a wall. There’s a fix for the Trizooka weapon, which will now stop overlapping with the player. There’s also an audio adjustment for the Heavy Edit Splatling to signal a better distinction between a full charge and a half charge.

There are also some updates to the multiplayer experience in Splatoon 3 with this newest update, including a fix for Wahoo World that now stops Zipcaster users from sticking to the center of the stage and a fix for the map Shipshape Cargo Co. that will prevent players from submerging in the water when landing on certain areas. This newest update also gives players who have bought the first half of the DLC content a new Off The Hook banner that’s available in the lobby terminal. To collect this free banner, players must have already purchased the first half of the DLC, then they can go to the lobby terminal and select Get Stuff.

Fans of the game can enjoy these fixes now as they wait for the spring of 2024 when Side Order is released for Splatoon 3. Side Order is the second half of the promised DLC for the game, and it focuses on the “Spire of Order,” a unique structure that augments the player’s abilities as they battle waves of enemies. This extra content acts as a continuation of Splatoon 2’s last Splatfest, “Order vs. Chaos,” where Chaos won, suggesting that order in the Splatoon world may have truly been lost. Side Order brings a new look and feel to the Splatoon franchise, and Nintendo has promoted the DLC as a single-player experience that fans can play “over and over again.”
