Splatoon 3 is two weeks away from launching, and to drum up excitement for Nintendo's shooter, players can download a free demo to participate in the World Premiere Splatfest for Splatoon 3, which takes place this Saturday (August 27).
At the moment, players can download the Splatfest World Premiere and create a character. Once a starting character is made, and the short tutorial of Splatoon 3's controls and mechanics are complete, the only option available is to wander around the new hub area named Splatsville.

What Are Splatfests?
First-time players may be confused at what all this means; in Splatoon previously, only two opposing Splatfest team choices were available for selection. Competitions to decide between ketchup vs. mayo, rock vs. pop, and vampire vs. werewolf were featured during Splatoon 2's varied Splatfests. In Splatoon 3,teams are now split into three, the first Splatfest choices being rock, paper, or scissors.
Typically, players signed up by pledging their allegiance to one team or the other on the Inkopolis Square board. In Splatoon 3, players must also vote to pledge toward one of the three available teams.
Rock, Paper, or Scissors? The age-old question in the classic playground game has now become the most important question for Splatoon 3 fans. So which team should players join when it comes to making that important decision?
How to Choose a Team
From the main square in Splatsville look around to see the widescreen monitor next to the T-shirt shop. Walk over and press A when prompted to do so in front of the screen. Next, the game asks which is better, rock, paper, or scissors; select the desired team and press the A button once more. The onscreen prompt will ask if this is the correct team; it is important to make sure the correct one is selected, as it cannot be changed later.
After joining a team, players receive a temporary clothing item in the form of a Splatfest T-shirt which displays the chosen team's logo. To equip the new T-shirt once a team is selected, press the plus button to enter the equip menu.
From the menu, navigate over to clothes and press A; next, choose the Splatfest T-shirt and hit A once again to confirm. Now the Splatfest T-shirt is equipped and ready for the upcoming event.
Rock, Paper, or Scissors?
The choice of rock, paper, or scissors should be made by first finding out which team online friends are choosing. Making the same choice as friends will enable all points earned together in matches to go towards one team.
This way, players can make sure their contributions to their team are boosted by playing alongside Splatoon friends. Alternatively, for the lone wolves out there who love to play solo, choose whichever team stands out, and rock that cool new T-shirt proudly.
What the T-shirt Does
T-shirts are an item of clothing that can be equipped for players' in-game characters. During a Splatfest, a special Splatfest T-shirt will be given to players once they choose their team. Once players have picked a team, they can then go into the customization menu and pick a Splatfest tee.
These special event T-shirts will display the logo of whichever team the player has picked for Splatfest on the front. Not only do these look cool, but they let other online users know who the player is representing during the event. Choose wisely and fly the flag or T-shirt of the three teams proudly.
Splatoon 3 launches on September 9 for the Nintendo Switch.
