With Splatoon 3's Fresh Season just around the corner, the game has now announced a brand new Salmon Run mode being added to the game. The new Splatoon 3 mode will provide players with a challenge that they can tackle with friends, and it comes with the promise of new rewards, as well.Splatoon 3 has already done quite a bit to expand Salmon Run from how Splatoon 2 handled it. In addition to acquiescing the common demand of fans wanting Salmon Run to be available 24/7, Splatoon 3 also added Big Run, a seasonal event that tasks players with defending turf war maps from a Salmonid invasion.RELATED: Splatoon 3 Reveals Kraken Special and Fresh Season ContentSplatoon 3 has already unveiled a new Big Run event that's on the verge of the release, but that's not all that's coming to the PVE mode. Splatoon 3 has also announced a new mode called Eggstra Work. Unlike standard Salmon Run, which pits players against three waves (and a possible fourth emergency wave), Eggstra Work is designed around a pre-set scenario with five waves to play in. Similar to Big Run, Eggstra Work will keep track of how many golden eggs players collect, and will show how they measured up after the completion of the event.

Also similar to Big Run, players who participate in this mode will automatically earn a free sticker. Players who pass certain milestones will receive improved stickers in bronze, silver, and gold colors, similar to the Big Run King Salmonid replicas awarded at the end of the event. The devs have yet to reveal when the first Eggstra Wave will be held, but with a new Big Run event and boss Salmonid revealed, players shouldn't expect the new mode to arrive immediately after Fresh Season begins.

Splatoon 3's devs also revealed a new series of items that fans will be able to purchase with their hard-earned Salmon Run scales. Salmon Run slop suits from Splatoon 2 are returning with color variations, giving those who have already unlocked all the current slop suit colors a new goal to pursue. Gear that can be used in standard and ranked battles are also joining the list of redeemable rewards.

Salmon Run has generally been received well since its addition in Splatoon 2, and having new modes and gear to unlock is likely to keep fans engaged in Splatoon 3. However, many have expressed frustration with the current rate of rewards for beating the King Salmonid, noting that they're already struggling to unlock the current items. Fans have openly asked Nintendo to boost the number of silver and gold scales awarded at the end of emergency waves, but nothing has been announced on that front yet.

Splatoon 3 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
