September is set to be a huge month for Splatoon 3 fans, thanks to a new season of DLC content, a second "Drizzle Season." The previous Drizzle Season was released just last year, so it should be interesting to see how this one differentiates itself.

Splatoon 3 is the third installment of one of newest IPs Nintendo has introduced, with the series first beginning in 2015 as Nintendo's bestselling new IP in Japan since Wii Sports. The award-winning success has resulted in two Nintendo Switch sequels that have built upon it, all garnering mostly positive reception and being supported after launch with several free content updates. Splatoon 3 has received multiple seasons of DLC since it originally released in late 2022, with the next season arriving in the same month as its first anniversary on the market.

In a two-minute trailer released to Nintendo's official YouTube channel, the next season of DLC will be called "Drizzle Season." The main attractions are two new stages: Crableg Capital, a construction site surrounded by skyscrapers with an emphasis on verticality, and Shipshape Cargo Co., a sprawling oil rig in the middle of an Arctic-esque ocean. New main weapons include the cuboid Dread Wringer, which fires paint in a short but wide range, and the machine gun-like Heavy Edit Splatling. New outfits and accessories are present, including the Squidvader Cap and the New York Suits, which resemble construction outfits. Other additions include the returning Salmonoid Smokeyard map from Splatoon 2's Salmon Run campaign, some new challenges that spotlight specific gameplay maneuvers, and a slew of new cards for the Tableturf Battle mode introduced in Splatoon 3.

Many in the comments appeared very hyped for the new season of content, some praising the new content as well as what was brought back. Some question whether this would be the other new content, while others expressed disappointment that some things they wanted to see would not be returning for this season, such as Splatoon 3's promised Side Order campaign. It shouldn't take too long to see if this hype level continues when the second Drizzle Season officially begins on September 1.

All in all, it seems this new season will be great news for Splatoon 3's playerbase and should do its job in increasing the game's longevity, especially considering all three installments have been criticized for a lack of new content at launch. It should be intriguing to see where future DLC for Splatoon 3 goes once this new seasons inevitably wraps up.

Splatoon 3 is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
