The Splatoon 3 Best Leader Splatfest, which pits Deep Cut idols Shiver, Frye, and Big Man against each other, has come to an end and the results are now available. The Splatfest was hosted in honor of Splatoon 3's first anniversary of release.

Splatoon 3 saw its most divisive Splatfest theme yet this time around, setting the three idols against each other for the role of who would be the best leader. Such a Splatfest isn't unheard of, as the final Splatfest in the original Splatoon saw the game's host Squid Sister idols Marie and Callie face off in a similar way. However, it came as a surprise to players that a Splatfest of this theme would already be held just a year into the game's release, and has left some fans wondering what the developers are plotting for the game's future.

Splatfest Winner

Now, the results have been revealed, and the winner of the Best Leader Splatfest is: Team Shiver.

Fans fought valiantly during this Splatfest, with the fights being particularly tumultuous, as the amount of 10x modifier battles was increased, and all prior Tri-Color Turf War maps returned in a random rotation for the special Splatfest. When the Splatfest began, the initial report revealed Frye's team entered in the lead as having earned the most Conch Shells during the Sneak Peek. However, by second day, team Shiver was slightly ahead in accumulating Clout over Frye and Big Man, with less than a percentage point between all three. All Splatfests must have a winner, though, and it's now evident that Team Shiver came through for their idol.

While it might be surprising to already see a Splatfest of the idols against each other, it's also arrived at a time when the fanbase was feeling the strain of Deep Cut idol Shiver winning over the others numerous times. Prior to the launch of this Splatfest, Shiver's team had won the last four consecutive Splatfests, and six overall. With Big Man only bringing home two wins and Frye just one, fans of those idols have been frustrated by Shiver's repeated wins. This Splatfest helped to serve as a way to see if the community could come together to create an upset, but ultimately, Shiver's supporters brought it home once more.

With Drizzle Season 2023 underway, fans should have a fair amount to keep them busy as they progress through the season's catalog. However, fans are continuing to wonder when Nintendo will reveal more about the Side Order DLC. With any luck, more information and a release date will arrive shortly.

Splatoon 3 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
