Spiritfarer does not have a plot of land like some life-sim out right now, but a boat that will help players travel across the map to complete errands for each spirit. By expanding and upgrading the boat, Stella will have room to build plots of land to grow vegetables and fruits, along with a spot to cook meals and craft items. Not only is the boat a space for the spirit animals to live on until they are ready to pass, but it is also the player’s spot to do daily chores and prep for adventures to come, therefore, optimizing the space on the boat is crucial.

Updated August 17, 2022 by Nikole Brinkman:Spiritfarer has become one of the top cozy indie games that has graced gamers everywhere, taking its rightful place beside iconic games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing. Since its attention has increased over the years of its release, the developers have given back to the fans by adding a DLC that not only gives players two new amazing characters, a new island and mini-game, but new builds for players boats!

But do players really look forward to finding the perfect space on their already crowded ship for these new spots? Some do, while some might be dreading the idea of moving everything around once again to try and make it perfect. Thankfully, these are just a few simple tips and tricks on how players can rearrange their ships into the perfect layout.

Split It Up

When reorganizing a ship's layout, it can be hard to start to get the feel and groove of where everything is. Thankfully, there is a really easy way to overcome this. With all the ship's buildings, there is an obvious theme for each one, such as residential or industrial. If players don't want to think too hard about but want to know where everything is by just which side it is on, this is a great option. Players can simply split up the boat by each side and place the right building on either place.

If players want to be even more intricate about this, they can split the boat up in three different areas that way the farming sections for crops and animals can have their own section as well. Like all of these options, it is up to the player's feel of how they want it to work, so there can be several ways it can go. This is a great option for those that don't want to jump around Sawmills or Looms to visit a character, or avoid characters just to make some food. Thank you to the gamers who share their ideas for the world to recreate!

Keep It Easy

The biggest problem that most players face when starting their boat layout is the fact that the structures have such an odd shape to them. Even some of the most wholesome games can end up being stressful to players. The different homes and rooms are not perfect squares, creating a Tetris-like puzzle to make sure all of them can fit in a snug fashion. This leaves strange gaps and frustration. Finding the perfect fit for all structures can be both time-consuming and annoying, so some players opt for the lesser evil of building the boat in layers.

Thankfully, when Stella upgrades her boat, the height meter will raise, meaning players can build structures feet off the ground. This is a great strategy for those who are not interested in worrying about a puzzle when it comes to building. This is also a great tool for those who like to stay organized with categories. And thankfully, this reddit user was so helpful in showing their work for inspiration. Since there are different structures, such as housing for spirits, crafting rooms, and gardens, players can put each of these categories in one level, so they know exactly where to go on their boat when the time comes. So, don't worry about using every space wisely, simply organize it to meet the preferred comfort standards.

What's Important

Another way players have organized their boats is to focus on what is most important. Granted, this is relative for the player, however, it is a great way to make sure the player can get their chores done without having to find each location every day. Putting the different buildings that are important to the player towards the front where Stella's cabin is, while pushing some less important buildings, like the spirit rooms for example, towards the back of the boat, would be helpful for everyday activities.

Doing this might not look aesthetically pleasing, but it does allow for players to use their time efficiently. This doesn't waste time, however, it can waste space, but for those that would rather get through their daily work to continue their adventures, this is a recommended layout.

Play The Puzzle Game

There are a few players who have taken the few hours needed to organize their boat in a way that it is all level, barely leaving room for gaps that way everything is right where they want it. While this might be a strategy that not all players would want to use, it is aesthetically pleasing to look at, and it prevents players from having to scale ladders to get to a certain area.

There are a few players who have succeeded in doing this, and it turned out really well. There are a few downfalls to this layout though. While everything looks neat, it is a little disorganized. The common structures are usually spread-out, so finding certain rooms will take some getting used to. And when trying to make sure everything fits perfect, players will realize that they can't really pick and choose where everything goes since they're trying to make everything fit. For those that have the patience and find joy in the organization, this is the perfect strategy to make your boat beautiful.

Utilize Ability Builds

Throughout the game, Stella will come across shrines where she can unlock certain abilities to navigate the map. Players will then receive blueprints of special items that can be built on the ship to allow Stella to move throughout the boat with ease. Utilizing these structures can help when forming the boat into levels.

Placing ziplines to connect levels on the boat, or even to travel across the entirety of the ship can make things easy. Vents are also a nice touch to move upward if players are tired of ladders and jumping. But while this tactic is a great way to access the whole boat, it does still use up space, so make sure to plan exactly where it should be connected to. Having useless ziplines can interfere with space that could be used for other structures.
