An Elden Ring player is met with a surprise while dealing with a Spiritcaller Snail on their seventh playthrough. Titles made by FromSoftware are filled with secrets, and even though Elden Ring has been out for a year, gamers are still finding new aspects present in the game.

As an example, an Elden Ring fan discovered a new trick to find illusory walls in the game, stating that these walls are missing a collection of bricks at the bottom. Like the Dark Souls games, there are several illusory walls in Elden Ring, and this trick may help some users in finding such walls. Now, another player has a surprising encounter with a Spiritcaller Snail on their seventh playthrough of the game.

A Reddit user named ZeroSama420 shared a video of them exploring one of the caves in Elden Ring. The player fights a hostile NPC named Inaba, Disciple of Okina, and manages to defeat them using the Wolf's Assault skill. ZeroSama420 is then greeted by a Lesser Spirit-Caller Snail, who grabs them and depletes all of their health in a single move. ZeroSama420 claims to have never seen the snail use this attack despite being on their seventh playthrough of Elden Ring.

It should be noted that the player had around 60% of their health left after the battle with the NPC, and it’s unclear if they could have survived the grab move at full HP. It also looks like ZeroSama420 had spent a decent number of points in leveling up the vigor stat in Elden Ring, as gamers dying to similar surprise attacks often have relatively low health.

It appears that ZeroSama420 is not alone, as many fans in the comments section also mention that they have never seen a Spiritcaller Snail use this attack in Elden Ring. One gamer compares it to the Brainsucker enemy in Bloodborne, while another user makes note of the snail’s incredible speed showcased in the video. The player lost over 171k runes to this mistake, and they’ll probably not take snails lightly in the next fight.

Some comments also recommend that ZeroSama420 should be using a lantern in these dark Elden Ring caves, allowing them to get a much better idea of the traps and enemies lurking in these areas. Players can attach a lantern to their waist instead of carrying a torch, freeing up one arm to carry another weapon or a shield.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
