One of the biggest appeals of Spider-Man: No Way Home was seeing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield return to their roles as Spider-Man after both hadn't played the character in years. With the film slated to be re-released in theaters next week, the Marvel Studios has released promos with new footage not previously seen during the film's first release.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home promos involve Maguire and Garfield both in the movie and during an interview with Tom Holland. During the interview in question, they talk about how rare a movie this was to combine all the actors who played the same character to share the screen in one big movie.

One of the promos shows never-before-seen-footage where Garfield's Spider-Man says, "We should do this again," to which Maguire replies, "You got it." In the longer promo, Holland describes Maguire and Garfield as two powerhouses. Garfield also added, "Who are we to starve other nerds like us of the beauty? What this is doing, which is cool, is honoring the multiverse lineage." Maguire then gave his own take on the ambitious film. "It's fun to watch it unfold and continue to evolve and find the unique little paths." The promo also promised to have others scenes not included in the film's original cut.

The real question is, will the MCU bring Maguire and Garfield back for another round with Holland in the future? Given the strong reception to Spider-Man: No Way Home, it's hard to see why they wouldn't want to revisit another live-action Spider-verse film in the near future. Comic book fans geeked out enough that Marvel Studios was able to get the three Spider-Mans back. Even better, now that the cat's out of the bag, they could potentially have Garfield and Maguire share the screen for longer amounts of time, or better yet, they could have them star in their own films again as they did in the past. There's a lot of potential in more Spider-verse movies.

While detractors may say that bringing them back was nothing more than nostalgia-baiting, Spider-Man: No Way Home knew how to utilize Maguire and Garfield's return as their respective Spider-Mans so that it wasn't just a fanservice cameo. Both Maguire and Garfield come into their own with their own separate arcs in ways that not only help themselves and each other but also benefit Holland's Spider-Man. They do this while not doing anything to take away from the arc that Holland goes through in the film.

They did such a good job that a fair amount of fans are pining for their own individual stories to be continued. That's truly impressive on Garfield's part, given that the reception to The Amazing Spider-Man franchise was lukewarm at best despite Garfield doing his best with what he was given. For Maguire, fans would love to see where his story arc goes since Spider-Man 3 did not end the franchise all too well. It might be overkill, but Marvel has pulled off good movies involving the three of them. With the MCU trying to salvage its fanbase, what could it hurt to explore that further?

Spider-Man: No Way Home will return to theaters on September 2, 2022.
