Spider-Man: No Way Home was one of the highlights of Marvel Studios' fourth phase. The Tom Holland film went through many design stages during its creation, and according to early concept art, Michael Keaton's Vulture was initially planned to be one of the villains in the film.
Spider-Man: No Way Home concluded the adolescent arc of Holland's Spider-Man. Fans saw him grow into the crime fighter they know and love from the comics, partly because of his willingness to help the roster of villains in No Way Home.
Spider-Man: No Way Home was the closest thing fans received to a movie that featured the sinister six, even though it only had five villains, and two of them were left on the back burner. Thanks to early concept artwork, fans can see Keaton's scrapped cameo as Vulture. Storyboard artist Phil Langone, who has worked with the likes of Marvel, Sony, Disney, Paramount, and Warner Bros, posted the artwork on Instagram. The picture reveals Keaton's Vulture, introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming and most recently seen in Morbius, standing alongside the other villains.
"This location for the Norman betrayal changed a few times. Even after drawing it a few different ways I was still surprised by where it ended up," Langone writes. "And some of the characters changed, too. There were also a lot more police in the first few passes which you can see here." While it's no secret that these films can drastically change from pre-production to the final product, it is always surprising to see what was cut.
Fans have seen a fair amount of the Spider-Man villains brought to the big screen thanks to the culmination of all three live-action versions of the character. However, this is just the beginning of Spider-Man because so many Marvel Comics storylines haven't been adapted. Spider-Man is known for having iconic encounters with several Marvel characters, including Blade, Punisher, Deadpool, and the X-Men.
However, it's important to keep the actors' needs in mind. Not everyone wants to be locked into one role their whole career, and some things don't necessarily need to last forever. Tom Holland has said he wants to take a break from acting, so Spider-Man 4 might be a long way away.
