Ever since its release, Spider-Man: No Way Home has been receiving rave reviews and breaking records at the domestic and global box office. On Tuesday, it officially crossed James Cameron's extremely popular flick Avatar to become the third-highest grossing film at the US box office. The film's domestic earning now stands at a whopping $760.9 million, making it the third-largest film to have ever been produced.

In the past month, Spider-Man: No Way Home has been climbing the ranks on the box office, both in the domestic and worldwide fields. Fans and critics expected it to become one of the highest earning films, but nobody saw it coming this quickly. Spider-Man: No Way Home, which premiered on December 17, 2021, was the most hyped film of last year, especially considering the rumors regarding the appearance of three Spider-Men in the movie. Before the film even premiered, fans were convinced that Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield's versions of the character would appear together, which ended up being true.

After successfully earning $760.9 million at the US box office, Spider-Man: No Way Home has joined the ranks of the top three films in Hollywood. That list includes Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with earnings of $936 million, and Avengers: Endgame with $858 million. The irony of the situation is Holland played a role in the Avengers film, and he also auditioned for a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but failed to land the job.

Spider-Man No Way Home Box Office Number 4 Film

Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently Sony's highest-grossing movie ever. Avatar has been bumped to the fourth spot on the domestic box office list, after recording combined earnings of $760.5 million during its original run and the re-release. In order for Spider-Man: No Way Home to further climb ranks, it would have to earn another $100 million to defeat its Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart.

Apart from its domestic spot, Spider-Man: No Way Home isn’t fairing too bad on the global box office list either. It currently stands at the sixth highest grossing spot globally, having earned $1.8 billion. On the other hand, Cameron’s Avatar still rules that list with $2.847 billion in total earnings. Other films in the top five list include Avengers: Endgame at $2,797 billion, Titanic at $2.2 billion, Star Wars: The Force Awakens at $2,069 billion, and Avengers: Infinity War at $2,048 billion.
