As Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been out for almost a while now, players have completed the short campaign and then some, leaving many to squeeze as much life out of the title as they can. And with such a short main story, it only makes sense that side missions and secrets exist in the game for players to find.
The new entry in Sony’s Spider-Man series isn’t one of the best PS5 launch games for no reason, as it’s filled to the brim with content, Easter eggs, and a slew of abilities and things players can do. Players just have to be careful not to miss anything.
10 New Game Plus
The game may be half the length of Marvel’s Spider-Man, but there’s a ton of replayability, and that’s no more true now thanks to New Game Plus. Once players complete the main story of the game, New Game Plus gives them the option to replay it all over again. The difference is that it includes a new Spidey suit and comes of loads of new features, including “Ultimate” difficulty, a challenging game mode compulsory for any completionist.
9 Make Vehicles Tilt
With the swinging in the game being so much fun, it’s easy to forget that there is actually land that players can walk on. Even better, if players land on a car or a truck, the vehicle will tilt depending on where Spidey stands on it. It’s that attention to detail that has made players fall in love with the game so quickly. And if players listen carefully, when they land on the vehicle they’ll hear the driver complain, which is one of the hidden details that everyone missed.
8 Give Spider-Cat A Mask
As Miles takes it upon himself to adopt a cat, or at least take it swinging around the city, it has quickly become one of the most adorable characters in a video game.
But the best thing about it comes upon completion of the game, as players can customize the cat’s attire, meaning players can literally make the cat wear a mask. It’s one of the strangest customization options the game has, of which there are many.
7 Spider-Verse Frame Rate
Spider-Man’s movement is one of the reasons it’s better than Marvel’s Avengers, as swinging around the city is not only totally immersive, but it’s beautiful, especially when the orange sunset contrasts with the white snow (which is one of the things we love about the game.) But there’s a way to make it look even cooler. If players equip the Spider-Verse suit, they are able to slow the frame rate so it looks like the art style of the 2018 animated movie.
6 Miles’ Father’s Grave
With Miles’ father having passed away in the universe before the game starts, some players have complained about the repetitive story, as it’s too similar to Peter Parker’s relationship with his Uncle. However, it doesn’t make it any less of a great Easter egg that players are able to find Jefferson Davis’ grave, along with some of Peter’s relatives too, which is why learning the map is one of the pro tips you need to know.
5 Add Shortcuts To The D-Pad
As there are so many different abilities available in the game and such a variety of gameplay options, it’s hard to believe that there are actually spare buttons on the D-Pad.
The two free buttons are the left and right arrows, and Insomniac has cleverly allowed players to assign their own shortcuts to the buttons, whether it’s an attack or a shortcut to a menu. It’s a perfect addition and it’s advised to edit this as soon as the game starts, as it’ll save a ton of time.
4 Faceplanting
In Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the ability to perform tricks will keep players distracted for hours, even days, and though it’s just for show, it does add XP and fill players’ Venom bars. But who cares about that when fans can menacingly but hilariously toy with Miles? One of the more fun things that people can do is perform a trick without then hitting swing. It’ll lead Miles to face plant on the ground, and as long as Spider-Cat is okay, there’s nothing to worry about.
3 Pay Respect To Stan Lee
Being the legend that he is, it’d be blasphemy if Sony didn’t give Stan Lee the send off he deserves in Miles Morales, as the comic book guru unfortunately passed away between Marvel’s Spider-Man and it’s follow up. With Insomniac being the great developer that it is, the folks have designed a giant bronze statue hidden in the map. Players can head over to the statue and pay respect to the icon.
2 Dance With Pedestrians
There were loads of things that fans spotted in the trailer, but there was plenty that Insomniac was surprisingly able to keep hidden. One of those things was Miles’ ability to emote with passers by on the street. When players are on the ground, they can press Square to dance, which has led to some funny memes online of Miles salsa dancing in some awkward situations. And there’s even a reference to that dance in Spider-Man 3.
1 Into The Spider-Verse Soundtrack
One of the best things about Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is it’s immersive soundtrack, and there’s a way to listen to the soundtrack while playing the game. Fans can play the Spider-Verse soundtrack on YouTube and mute the game in its sound settings, and then they can swing freely. And if players really want to feel like they’re controlling the movie, they can put on the Spider-Verse suit and slow down the frame rate too!
