Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Spider-Punk cosplay by Chris Williams is amazing. It's the little details that make it stand out from the rest.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse delivered many different Spider-People for fans to enjoy, from LEGO Spider-Man to Peter Parkedcar. However, Daniel Kaluuya's Spider-Punk stole the show in Across the Spider-Verse. The character delivered some memorable moments and played an integral part in Miles' development and escape in the film. Most notable was the character's design and unique animation, which took nearly three years to perfect and grabbed people's attention.

Williams showed off his Spider-Punk cosplay at Anime Expo in Los Angeles over the 4th of July weekend. The costume is incredibly detailed and seemingly has every button and patch from the movie. He even brought Hobie Brown's guitar from the big screen to life. Interested fans can look through his Twitter thread, which shows every step of the process, including his first failed attempt at the guitar.

That Spider-Punk cosplay would’ve already been amazing with all of the details in the suit and the accessories, but what brings it all together is his use of pipe cleaners to outline the hair. Throughout Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Punk has an outline around him that changes color frequently. This style distinguishes Spider-Punk from the hundreds of other spider people in Across the Spider-Verse. The pipe cleaners were a creative way to mimic this animation style in real life.

Williams has cosplayed many different characters, almost all from anime. Some of his most popular cosplays include Vash the Stampede from Trigun, Isaac from Castlevania, and Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen. However, his Spider-Punk cosplay has quickly become his most popular. Williams called this cosplay a passion project, saying, “As SOON as I left the theater, I NEEDED to build Hobie bc I loved his character.” Williams also said he's seen Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in theaters six times.

The amount of time and effort he put into his passion project has certainly paid off. Recently, Williams announced that because of the success of his Spider-Punk cosplay, he's been allowed to go to San Diego Comic-Con. Getting to cosplay at San Diego Comic-Con is one of the highest honors for any cosplayer, and based on his Spider-Punk, it is well deserved for Williams.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now playing in theaters.
