What Is Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse About

Across The Spider-Verse Extended Poster

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse serves as a direct sequel to 2018's Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, delving even deeper into the spider multiverse. The film reunites the original Spider cast with the addition of newer Spider-Men variants. Set over a year after the events of the first movie, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse follows Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales as they venture into the Spider-Society. This society is comprised of various Spider-Men, led by Spider-Man 2099, Miguel O'Hara, and is tasked with eliminating any possible attempts or threats to disturb the multiverse.

The movie follows a Spider-Man variant known as The Spot, who was initially a scientist working on Kingpin's collider. While working on the collider, Dr. Jonathan got trapped and gained mysterious powers that allowed him to open interdimensional portals and smaller-scale portals. Taking on his new identity as The Spot, Dr. Jonathan had the sole purpose of taking revenge on Miles Morales by killing his father as the scientist blamed Miles for his demise. However, Miguel O'Hara, better known as Spider-Man 2099, stops Miles from saving his father as he views it as a canonical event necessary for every Spider-Man to lose their loved ones and interrupting the event would disturb the multiverse.

Miles eventually escapes the Spider-Society but ends up in a completely different universe where there is no Spider-Man, and his uncle Aaron is still alive while his father is dead. The movie ends with a cliffhanger, with Miles facing a variant of himself who is now the villain, Prowler.
