New Spider-Man 4 plot details claim the film will feature some surprising cameos and could even become a battle of the heroes akin to Marvel Studios' Captain America: Civil War.

Not much is known about the upcoming Spider-Man film, but Tom Holland has already talked with the studio about reprising his role as Peter Parker, who will likely start from ground zero as a superhero after Doctor Strange wiped everyone's memory of him. A recent rumor suggested that Charlie Cox's Daredevil would join forces with Spider-Man in a Hell's Kitchen crime-fighting team-up, and talks of an Ant-Man appearance have been circulating.

However, a new rumor puts forward a more adversarial concept. According to @Cryptic4KQual, an X-based scooper with a reliable track record, Spider-Man 4 will share the Civil War plot device. "It was described to me to be a Street Level CIVIL WAR," he shared, later clarifying, "When I say Civil War I mean the layout out but STREET LEVEL." Cryptic4KQual also slipped a bombshell into the X thread, saying, "Kate, Jessica, Echo..." and suggesting even more names when asked about additional cameos, adding evidence to the theory that a Sony and MCU convergence is happening.

Civil War pits Chris Evans' Captain America against Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and divides the rest of the Avengers on the issue of government oversight. Thus, the "street level" comment may reference the federal government's involvement. The hero v. hero conflict in the upcoming Spider-Man sequel probably won't go to the top. If Daredevil is featured heavily in the film, he could be the key to this street-level battle since he's a vigilante by night and a New York lawyer by day. Friction may arise from Daredevil's reaction to a "new" superhero on the same turf. To support this theory, fans have pointed out that Spider-Man and Daredevil have canonically fought in comics several times.

However, there is still a chance fans get the Spider-Man and Daredevil team-up they've always wanted. Based on the additional names dropped by Cryptic4KQual, some fans think Spider-Man could lead a team of Daredevil, Hawkeye, Jessica Jones, and Echo against a street-level Sinister Six. Still, it's unclear how much screen-time the additional heroes will get, as @Cryptic4KQual also added, "Any major Avengers addition might end up being minor, though as of right now it's unclear to me what roles they'd play, Ant-Man for instance."

If these rumors turn out to be true, it will mean a major shake-up for the MCU. A shifting of team-ups and allegiances could create some much-needed excitement for Marvel Studios, which has had a difficult year at the box office due to recent flops like The Marvels. Perhaps attaching some of their more obscure characters to the successful Spider-Man saga will help Marvel Studios gracefully navigate their slump, or maybe weaving too many storylines together will water down a good thing. Regardless, Spider-Man fans have much to chew on while they wait for more official news.
