Miles Morales’ Universe was Earth-1610, different from the central timeline of Marvel comics from Earth-616. However, on this Earth, Peter Parker’s Spider-Man is killed after saving Captain America, and battling his other foes in a weakened state. Although Peter’s death was tragic to the world, Miles Morales took it personally, believing that he could have helped if he was strong enough.

Miles Morales was young when he was bitten by a radioactive spider, and too inexperienced to help Spider-Man in the battle that cost him his life. Miles blames himself, much like how Peter blames himself for the death of Uncle Ben.

It can’t be easy to have a nemesis, but it must be even harder if that nemesis is identical. Miles Morales’ nemesis is himself from the 616 universe, a version of himself that was not bitten by a radioactive spider. Instead, he was a part of the Rigoletto Crime Family with ties to Wilson Fisk.

The villain version of Miles Morales goes under the name of Ultimatum and has faced Miles Morales’ Spider-Man many times. Whereas Peter Parker has faced off against clones, Miles Morales is facing off against a different reality version of himself.

Multiverse incursions see the collision course of two Earths from different realities and Miles’ Earth-1610 was destroyed in an incursion. The death of Miles’ planet would see everything and everyone he knew gone, wiped from existence. However, thanks to having a hamburger in his suit as a leftover snack, Miles was able to gain the favor of Molecule Man, who could rebuild realities.

Thanks to the hamburger, Molecule Man reconstructed the Multiverse and repaid his delicious debt to Miles Morales by recreating Earth-616, with Miles Morales being an integral part of it. However, Miles’ transport to the mainline Marvel universe also came with the resurrection of his mother, so this tragedy is more of a fortune, but it still came with the cost of only Miles knowing his original Earth.

5 Death Of The Prowler

Miles has two loving parents, and a complex relationship with his uncle, Aaron Davis. His uncle always looked after Miles, but as a dangerous villain and thief, the Prowler saw other uses for his nephew after discovering his identity as the Spider-Man. The Prowler tried to fight Miles, but a malfunction caused his vibro-shock gauntlet to explode.

The blast from the gauntlet exploding left Aaron with fatal injuries, and he gave Miles some final words before dying in his arms. For Miles to watch helplessly as his uncle tried to kill him, only to die, left deep routed mental scars on Miles Morales.

Before Miles’ mother was killed by the ensuing fight with Venom, Jefferson Davis was the original target, who was beaten and badly wounded, recovering from his wounds in the hospital for months. Yet, a year after Rio’s death, Jefferson had recovered, and Galactus arrived on Earth to cause even more damage. It was here that Miles revealed his secret identity to Jefferson as Spider-Man.

This moment saw confusion and heartbreak from Jefferson, and his hatred for Spider-Man made him blame Miles for the death of his brother, Aaron Davis, and his wife, Rio Morales. Jefferson hit Miles with his cane, and then disappeared, abandoning his son and his conflicted feelings of hurt toward Spider-Man.

However, that all changed with the death of Ms. Marvel.

Many fans took to social media to show their disapproval of Ms. Marvel’s murder, especially at the hands of a new villain Rubin, who stabbed her in the back whilst Ms. Marvel was disguised as Mary Jane. An Inhuman made himself known to the Marvel heroes, and Ulysses Cain proved an ability to predict the future. This caused a Civil War between the Marvel heroes, with Iron Man believing that using Ulysses’ visions to prevent crimes before they happen would be a disaster for the world, whereas Captain Marvel believed it to be a benefit to the future.

Miles Morales saw himself in the limelight of this dilemma after Ulysses saw a prophecy that Miles would kill Captain America. This saw Captain Marvel and other heroes hunt Spider-Man to try and prevent this dark future, all whilst Miles tries to test fate and disprove this prophecy.
