Spider-Man: Miles Morales is almost out for the PS4 and PS5. While both machines can apparently run the game smoothly, Miles Morales has been optimized for PS5 in order to boost its frame rate and resolution.

With the PS5’s release date inching closer and closer, leakers online that have broken the street date are posting videos of the console at work. One leaker on Reddit has posted a video showing Spider-Man: Miles Morales loading in from the PS5 home menu with incredibly fast loading times.

The video from Reddit user nicoreese, tagged as a spoiler, has over 600 comments and 5,000 upvotes as of this writing. Interested viewers will find the video is clearly leaked footage, not officially sanctioned by Insomniac or Sony. One of the first hallmarks that Sony touted for its next-generation console was that the PS5 loads Spider-Man 15 times faster than the PS4.

It’s plain to see from the leaked footage that Insomniac was able to perform the same feat with Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS5. As such, it’s safe to assume that the PS5 remastered version of Marvel’s Spider-Man will have similar load times. Though the load times for Spider-Man on PS4 weren’t very lengthy, it still remains to be seen whether or not the PS4 version of Spider-Man: Miles Morales will boast even remotely similar times compared to the PS5 version. While Miles Morales’ load times on PS4 may see a boost compared to 2018’s Spider-Man, it’s unlikely they will match the speed shown in this leaked footage.

However, while the game’s PS4 version may not load as fast as the PS5 version, there is still a chance Miles Morales’ load times might be shorter than fans expect. If Ghost of Tsushima’s loading times are any indication of how far PS4 optimization has come, than Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ PS4 version might be something to behold. Sucker Punch was able to optimize the game’s asset rendering and memory budget to achieve Ghost of Tsushima's loading times, so if Insomniac took some pointers from Sucker Punch, Miles Morales could rival it.

Of course, that’s all speculation seeing as most, if not all, of the footage that Insomniac has shown from Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been from the PS5 build of the game. It’s important to note that while the PS5 version will obviously run better than the PS4 in terms of frame rate and resolution, the PS4 version should still run smoothly. That being said, many will likely agree that the faster they are able to play as Miles Morales swinging through New York, the better.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales releases for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 12, 2020.
