PlayStation fans around the globe are eagerly counting down the days to the PS5's grand launch on November 12. Even though the console's exclusive launch lineup is a little small, players have become quite excited for the games that will be available such as Demon's Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales nonetheless. Now in an effort to continue building hype until the console and games launch, Insomniac Games and Marvel have shared a sneak peek at one of the villains Miles will face off against.

On Twitter, the official Marvel account shared a variant cover for the upcoming 55th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man. The cover showcases Miles in the black and red suit that players have come to associate with the Spider-Man: Miles Morales PS5 game. And stalking Miles in the background, players can very clearly see the villain, Prowler. Marvel confirmed in the tweet of the image that this is, in fact, the outfit Prowler will don in the anticipated PS5 title.

Insomniac Games then retweeted the image with the caption, "Well it seems Spider-Man the Cat is out of the bag." This reply at first seemed to imply that Insomniac was not aware that Marvel was going to share this image, which has incited some fans to reply with angry comments about the game being spoiled. However, Insomniac has replied to many of the comments it received, stating that it had always intended on revealing Prowler before Spider-Man: Miles Morales launched.

While there are many characters from the Marvel comic book universe that have taken the mantle of Prowler, it's incredibly likely that this Prowler will be Aaron Davis. Aaron Davis is Miles' uncle on his father side and was famously played by Mahershala Ali in the critically acclaimed 2018 film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. And while it's currently unknown as to what role Prowler plays in the Tinkerer's grand scheme, it's quite likely that it won't spell good news for Miles.

It seems that PS4 and PS5 players alike are in for an interesting superhero experience when Spider-Man: Miles Morales releases in only a few short weeks. The excitement for the title seems to only have intensified in the lead up to launch, with Brian Michael Bendis, one of Miles' co-creators, praising the game. And while expectations for the Insomniac title are high, players know that the developer is able to rise to the occasion.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to release on November 12, 2020, for PS4 and PS5.
