After more than a year of fan speculation, Spider-Man: Miles Morales has finally been announced for the PlayStation 5, set to release in only half a year. Now that the game has gone from hope to reality, fans can move on from speculating about its existence to what exactly it will feature.

One of the most memorable and rewarding objectives in Marvel's Spider-Man was filling out a large wardrobe of Peter Parker's most iconic suits from his decades of comic history, so it seems likely that Insomniac Games will carry the feature over. Here are a few of Miles' own looks that seem worthy of making an appearance in Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Into The Spider-Verse

Miles' red and black suit with the spray-painted logo from 2018's Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse seems like a shoe-in for the new game. Released in the same year as the first game, the animated movie helped launch Miles into the limelight. The character has only been around for about ten years; getting his own movie and central roles in two Spider-Man games so shortly after his creation goes a long way toward making him a household name. The suit would surely delight fans of the movie looking for more stories about Miles.

The First "Suit"

In 2011, Miles made his first appearance in Ultimate Comics: Fallout #4, wearing a Spider-Man Halloween costume in an attempt to fill the late Peter Parker's place. Comic lovers may have noticed that Miles did just the same thing in Into The Spider-Verse. An homage to Miles' humble beginnings seems like a very reasonable inclusion in the costume roster -- not to mention it could channel the same goofy energy as Peter's Vintage Comic Book or Undies suits from PS4's Spider-Man.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Uniform

Miles has his ties to S.H.I.E.L.D. just like so many other members of the Marvel multiverse, as he encountered them early on in his tenure as a superhero and even collaborated with them long enough to make an appearance in a S.H.I.E.L.D. themed uniform. Including that costume could mean a suit power making use of the organization's military technology as well as bringing attention to one of Miles' less explored formative experiences.

Miles Morales #13

A much deeper cut than some of the previous listed suits, this costume could become a newly iconic look for Miles if Insomniac were to include it. One of Miles' comic issues had a variant cover depicting him hanging in a web of wires, wearing a very cyberpunk black suit with a digital spider logo. It may not be a suit that Miles is known for, but it could be both aesthetically compelling and an interesting design space for a high-tech suit power. If Peter can get access to the Spider-Man 2099 suit, it seems there's little reason that Miles couldn't get his hands on a futuristic suit of his own.

Peter Parker's Advanced Suit

Having the chance to wear Peter's main suit from the first game in Spider-Man: Miles Morales might come across as an unexpected inclusion at first, but it seems worthy of a slot. Miles' story has always been intertwined with Peter's in some way, whether in Ultimate Spider-Man, Into The Spider-Verse, or even Marvel's Spider-Man. Peter constantly manifests as a mentor and inspiring figure to Miles, and now that Insomniac is passing the torch to Miles in the next game, Peter's Advanced Suit would be a great way to acknowledge Miles' deep bond with Peter.

Marvel's Spider-Man released with 28 costumes, and even more costumes rolled into the game later on as DLC. Peter Parker has many decades of history on Miles, but that does not mean Miles has to be any shorter on costumes. Insomniac may look to the many other members of the Spider-Verse for the inspiration to fill the roster with referential costumes. The game's planned release is only a few months away, so players can take heart in knowing that the wait to learn more will not be long.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales will release on PS5 in holiday 2020.
