As Spider-Man 4 inches closer to filming, fresh rumors have emerged regarding potential characters for the film. Among these rumors, one particularly exciting speculation suggests that Black Cat will finally make her long-awaited debut on screen in the upcoming movie.

With much still unknown about the next installment in the Spider-Man franchise, new rumors have begun to circulate. Following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Zendaya's MJ appears to be out of Peter Parker's life, or at least temporarily. This leaves an opening for another of Peter's romantic interests from the comics to enter the picture, and Black Cat could potentially be the one to fill that role.

Marvel: 6 Best Black Cat Storylines

Marvel's Felicia Hardy, aka the Black Cat, has had some memorable storylines over the years. These are the best of the bunch.

A recent online rumor, initially posted by MyTimeToShineHello and later shared by @AgentAAA4 on Twitter, suggests that Spider-Man 4 will introduce a long-awaited character for the first time on screen. According to this rumor, Black Cat is set to make her big debut. Black Cat, a character previously only seen in comics, animated shows, and video games and never before featured in any live-action Marvel projects, will reportedly appear in the upcoming film. As of now, no additional details about this development are available.

While the reliability of the source may be questionable, the rumor does hold some intriguing potential. More recently, additional rumors have surfaced suggesting that well-known actresses, such as Sidney Sweeney, have been approached for the role. However, speculation about casting for Black Cat dates back to 2022, with rumors linking Anya Taylor-Joy to the part. Yet, neither casting choice has been officially confirmed. Moreover, it is worth noting that Spider-Man 4 is currently in the early stages of development, casting further doubt on the validity of the rumor. Nevertheless, many fans have taken to expressing their excitement online at the prospect of finally seeing this beloved character brought to life on screen.

In the comics, Black Cat, also known as Felicia Hardy, is a cat burglar who has been both an enemy and an ally to Spider-Man. Felicity Jones briefly portrayed Hardy in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 but never appeared as her character in full costume. Interestingly, Anne Hathaway, who famously portrayed Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, was supposed to appear as an earlier version of Black Cat in Sam Raimi's canceled fourth Spider-Man movie. Back in 2017, reports surfaced that Sony was developing a film centered around both Black Cat and Silver Sable, another Marvel character, but the project never materialized. Given that Sony still holds the film rights to Spider-Man and associated characters, there remains a possibility that Black Cat could make her big-screen debut.

Spider-Man 4 is in development at Marvel Studios.
