A revival of Netflix’s original series Daredevil might not necessarily be on the cards for Disney, but that doesn’t mean Charlie Cox won’t get to reprise his beloved Matt Murdock portrayal in some other way. Just last week, the #SaveDaredevil campaign was brought into the spotlight on social media after Disney became legally able to revisit Daredevil, but Marvel and Sony may have figured out exactly how to do it with the upcoming Spider-Man 3.

Up to this point, the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home has brought with it a whirlwind of all but confirmed rumors that put a lot of talent from past Spider-Man productions making a comeback in those same roles. The latest of these has Alfred Molina returning to play Doctor Octopus and joining Jamie Foxx’s Electro, while several sources also point to Kirsten Dunst, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield appearing as Mary Jane Watson and fellow Spider-Men, respectively.

Now, a site called Murphy’s Multiverse, which has accurately reported on some of these Spider-Man rumors before, claims that Kevin Feige would bring Cox back as Daredevil for his Spider-Man sequel. If so, this move could help set up any potential projects Disney may have in mind for a solo Daredevil. on top of offering fanservice like the returning Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2.

With Benedict Cumberbatch also set to appear as Doctor Strange in Spider-Man 3, Daredevil would be a perfect fit to appear alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. The two heroes are notable for their appearances in the Spider-Man comics.

Business-wise, this would also make sense considering Daredevil was the best-performing Marvel series ever produced by Netflix, and having Cox show up in Spider-Man 3 would go a long way toward exposing the character to a wider audience. Earlier this year, Cox had denied similar rumors saying if Daredevil were to show up he wasn’t in on it, yet his role was so universally liked it’s hard to imagine Disney looking for other options.

Whatever the case, Feige’s Spider-Man 3 is shaping up to be a cornucopia of the best Spider-Man has had to offer since the turn of the century, and then some. If at least half of the rumored casting choices are confirmed, it would deliver a fantastic multiverse plot that should have fans drooling.

Spider-Man 3 is currently in development.
