A Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 orchestra performance at The Game Awards 10-Year Concert basically confirmed that Harry Osborn is Venom in the game. The first Marvel’s Spider-Man title from Insomniac launched in 2018 followed by Spider-Man: Miles Morales in 2020, but neither of these confirmed the identity of the symbiote's human host.

Harry Osborn is an important character in Spider-Man’s story, but wasn’t a big part of the first two games. Instead, his existence was teased during the secret endings in both games, which meant that he would play some role in future titles. When Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase in 2021, it confirmed that Peter Parker and Miles Morales would face Venom as one of the game’s main antagonists. However, the identity of the symbiote remains a mystery, despite the fans strongly believing that Harry Osborn is Venom. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 director Bryan Intihar also said that Eddie Brock, who is the original alter-ego for Venom, will not be a part of the game, which strengthened fans’ theory. Now, a video played during the concert virtually confirms Venom’s identity.

In a video posted by YouTuber Evan Filarca procured from an audience member, Insomniac played the new main theme for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 while showing the aforementioned endgame footage. It's a slight detail and in no way outright confirmation, but that hasn't stopped fans from noticing the timing with the clips shown, believing it to reinforce Harry Osborn's potential role in the upcoming game.

However, the story might not directly portray Harry as Venom considering the gameplay trailer for Spider-Man 2 showed Peter Parker wearing the symbiote suit while pursuing Lizard. It's possible the Venom Symbotie impacts multiple characters, after all. It's clearly had an impact on Spider-Man, but it's not certain when/if Venom will come into contact with Harry.

Apart from Venom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will introduce Kraven the Hunter as the game’s other antagonist. As of now, it is unclear if Kraven will be the villain who sets up the stage for Venom or vice versa, which could be similar to the first Spider-Man title where Mr. Negative was the first villain followed by Doctor Octopus.

Spider-Man 2 launches October 20, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
