Yet, sometimes, a gray area exists in which bad guys are trying to do the right thing, only for other factors to push them back over the brink again. This will be the case when players come up against Flint Marko, or The Sandman, in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
Besting the one-time villain is only the beginning, as the truth reveals that there is more than meets the eye than a rogue going wild. To find out the whole truth, players will have to put in some legwork and gather the fragmented pieces of Marko's memories to learn about what led to his outburst. This guide will point players in the right direction, together with a shiny new trophy as a reward for reaching the end.
One Marvel's Wolverine Feature Will Likely Be a Lot Less Extensive Than in Spider-Man 2
Time will tell how similar Marvel's Wolverine will be to the Marvel's Spider-Man games, but one feature could be comparatively toned down.
Marko's Memories Locations in Marvel's Spider-Man 2
After the initial fight with Sandman introduces the idea of sand crystals into Marvel's Spider-Man 2, players will now have the option to locate all the other Marko's Memories that can be found across New York City. Only by gathering all the pieces and understanding Marko's dilemma can he be saved and returned to his normal state.
Marko's Memories can be located while traveling around the city using R3 to scan, and each encounter will require players to fight off sand creatures. Once the coast is clear, Miles or Peter can grab the crystal causing all the mayhem. Do note the particular memory may be different depending on the order they are picked up, but the locations will remain the same.
Central Park Marko's Memories Location
Being Followed
The southern side of Central Park will be home to this piece of Marko's Memory. Use the water to get rid of the sand creatures quickly and pave the way to grabbing the crystal.
Midtown Marko's Memories Locations
No One Believes Me
Get over to Midtown in New York City and check the southwest corner of this area to find this crystal in an alleyway. Use environmental objects and smash the enemies that appear before getting one more of Marko's Memories.
Looking For Answers
From the previous location, head directly east and get up high on the rooftops to locate the next crystal in Midtown. Knock enemies off the edge for a quick KO, so it's easier to get to the crystal.
Greenwich Marko's Memories Location
A Trap
Located at the basketball courts in Greenwich, get over here as either Peter or Miles to sweep up the scene and obtain another piece of the puzzle.
Chinatown Marko's Memories Locations
Uninvited Guests
The first piece of Marko's Memories in Chinatown can be found on the western edge of the area, nearer to the bottom. Look out for the telltale sand whirls and locate the crystal in an alley.
Fade to Black
Another rooftop brawl awaits Peter or Miles in Chinatown, with this sand crystal located centrally. It should be easy to find using the Web Wings after gaining enough elevation.
Financial District Marko's Memories Locations
She's Gone
Near the core of the Financial District will be this particular sand crystal. Beat up the waves of enemies and proceed to collect the object of interest while learning about the potential disappearance of Marko's daughter.
Face to Face
Another of Marko's Memories stuck in an alleyway, head over to this location in the Financial District to retrieve it after fighting off the enemies in the area.
The Beast Inside
Head to the southernmost tip of the area to locate this sand crystal near the water. Use that to your advantage to instantly eliminate the sand monsters.
A Familiar Feeling
After the last crystal, swing slightly northeast to find the final one in the Financial District. This is located on the rooftop of a building, so get climbing to face off against the grainy foes standing in the way.
Little Odessa Marko's Memories Location
Prying Eyes
Near the northwestern edge of the area will be this sand crystal. Prepare for combat before obtaining this piece of Marko's Memory.
Williamsburg Marko's Memories Location
Broken Promise
This particular piece of Marko's Memories can be found high on the rooftops in Williamsburg. Show the sand enemies a good time by sending them flying off the roof for a quick elimination.
Downtown Brooklyn Marko's Memories Locations
Imprisoned
Get over to the southeast side of New York City and into the Downtown Brooklyn area to find this first sand crystal, which is found behind some buildings where criminals are going at it with the sand creatures.
Together Again
The final sand crystal can be found by the water's edge in Downtown Brooklyn. However, a different experience awaits players at this one. Instead of dealing with those pesky sand enemies, Spider-Man will be transported to the realm of Marko's Memories.
Here, follow the shining light by grappling to the various points in this sandy environment, eventually facing up to a giant crystal. To destroy it, avoid the projectiles while turning the tables and throwing the objects back at it. With time, it will finally shatter, presenting the final piece of the puzzle to players.
What Happens After Finding All of Marko's Memories in Marvel's Spider-Man 2?
With all 14 pieces of Marko's Memories now collected, Mary Jane should be calling to inform the heroes of his condition getting better. This will also reveal the location of the side story, Remember, which will serve as the conclusion of this particular quest line.
Swing over to the location in Astoria and interact with the front door of an unassuming residence. This will see Spider-Man leaving the completed statue, made from all the other pieces of Marko's Memories, in front of the door.
Retreating to a nearby vantage point, it is then revealed that this is where Marko's estranged daughter is currently living, safe from the threats that have caused her father so much harm. A bittersweet ending, but one that's only possible with the player's help.
The rewards for doing all that swinging about and fighting will be 20 City Tokens, 2000 XP, and the Grains of Sand Trophy.
