Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 star Yuri Lowenthal is willing to voice Peter Parker for as long as Insomniac wants him to. Lowenthal is a fairly prolific voice actor in anime and gaming, known for his roles as Persona 3 protagonist Makoto Yuki, Matt Miller from the Saints Row series, and more recently Smoke in Mortal Kombat 1. However, one of his most highly recognized and acclaimed performances has been his turn as Peter Parker himself in Marvel’s Spider-Man and its sequels, with many fans praising his work for capturing the many different aspects of the wise-cracking, tragedy-driven superhero.

2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man wasn’t the first time Yuri Lowenthal donned Peter Parker’s iconic mask, as he voiced the web-slinger in games like Marvel Super Hero Squad Online and Pinball FX 2 before stepping into the spotlight for Insomniac’s Marvel gaming universe. He has since reprised the role in other Marvel-based titles like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, Marvel Future Revolution, and even last year’s Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Yuri Lowenthal clearly enjoys playing Peter Parker, and he has recently indicated that he isn’t ready to hang up the webs anytime soon.

Yuri Lowenthal sat down with the YouTube channel Phase Zero a few days ago to discuss his upcoming appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. During this interview, he mentioned how surprised he still is that he got to play one of Marvel’s most legendary superheroes to begin with, and said that he would like to keep voicing Peter Parker for as long as he can. “I love working with [Insomniac] so much and I love what they do,” he stated. “And I just got to say, I love playing Spider-Man. It is the best.”

Lowenthal also replied that he would understand if Insomniac or another developer decided to either reboot the Marvel’s Spider-Man series or recast the role of Peter Parker for whatever reason, as he believes he has had a good run with the character already - even though he hopes to continue. In the meantime, Lowenthal will get the chance to explore a much darker side of Peter in the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which sees him be taken over by the infamous symbiote.

Players can’t wait to hear more of Yuri Lowenthal’s Peter Parker in Spider-Man 2, and he wishes to keep playing the character in future video games for as long as the developers will let him. Whether he’s playing Spider-Man as a confident hero who playfully taunts his enemies, portraying Peter Parker as a socially awkward intellectual, or bringing out the pain and tragedy of a young man tasked with balancing his duties as a crime-fighter and the struggles of his personal life, Lowenthal has shown his considerable range in one of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s leading roles, and he and his fans hope for more to come in the future.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 releases on October 20, exclusively for PS5.
