Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be getting its long-awaited New Game+ update on Thursday, March 7. Spider-Man 2 released to widespread critical acclaim last year, with many coming away impressed by the significant gameplay improvements made over its predecessor and its gripping superhero story. But while Spider-Man 2 earned a great deal of praise, some fans were disappointed by a missing feature.

Unfortunately, Spider-Man 2 launched without New Game+, meaning anyone wanting to experience the game's story again would need to start a new save file from scratch and miss out on using all their upgrades. Insomniac has long made it clear that New Game+ would be coming to Spider-Man 2 at some point down the line, and now the studio has officially announced when long-awaited feature will be making its debut.

Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus Release Date

  • Spider-Man 2 is adding New Game Plus on Thursday, March 7

Many fans will be excited to see Spider-Man 2 add New Game+, but some may be more curious about potential paid DLC for the game. While nothing has been announced at the time of this writing, the big Insomniac ransomware attack has suggested that Lady Beetle DLC could be in the works for the game. The first Spider-Man game enjoyed multiple DLC expansions, and so it wouldn't be surprising for the sequel to follow suit.

Insomniac's Spider-Man game universe is still set to expand, even if Spider-Man 2 skips DLC. The same ransomware attack outed the existence of a dedicated Venom game, while the Wolverine game is expected to drop in 2026. Further down the line, it seems Insomniac has an X-Men game on the way, so it will be exciting to see how the studio continues to evolve its Marvel gaming universe. For now, fans can look forward to revisiting Spider-Man 2 on March 7 when New Game+, new suits, and more are added to the game.
