Insomniac Games has released a brand-new update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, but fans need to be careful after downloading it. After Spider-Man 2 launched last year, many fans were disappointed that the game was shipped without a proper New Game+ mode. Insomniac was quick to promise that the fan-favorite feature was on the way, and the latest update has finally added it to the open world superhero game.

The newest Spider-Man 2 game update is available to download right now. The rather massive update has added New Game+, Mission Replay, and a variety of other features that should give diehard Spider-Man fans an excuse to jump back into the game. However, Spider-Man 2 players will want to be careful after downloading it.

Shortly after the Spider-Man 2 update went live, Insomniac Games issued a warning to players. It seems the new update has given players access to a development game menu. Using said menu could potentially corrupt one's saves and Spider-Man 2 trophy progress. "There is no risk associated with playing the game as intended," Insomniac said in its tweet warning players about the situation. A hotfix is in the works that will get rid of the development game menu, but it's unclear exactly when it will be available to the masses.

Spider-Man 2 Update Accidentally Adds Development Game Menu

Most Spider-Man 2 players won't need to worry about this, but they should all be careful not to mess with the development game menu in the meantime. Those that play the game as intended will be able to enjoy all the big new features added with the latest Spider-Man 2 update, like the aforementioned New Game+, Mission Replay, new suit and gadget styles, the increased level cap, and more.

Many fans will be happy to see Spider-Man 2 get such a substantial update, but others may be anxious for the game to get a proper DLC expansion like the original game did. There is some evidence to suggest that Spider-Man 2 DLC is in the works, but nothing official has been announced at the time of this writing. In the meantime, there is also evidence to suggest that something more substantial is in development as well.

According to the Insomniac Games ransomware leak, a Venom video game is potentially in the works. It's believed that such a project would be smaller-scale, more akin to Miles Morales, but fans should keep in mind that it hasn't actually been announced at the time of this writing. For now, fans of Insomniac's Marvel games universe can dig into all the new content added in the latest update.
