Marvel's Spider-Man earned rave reviews in 2018, with critics praising its impressive graphics, open world New York City, web swinging mechanics, and fun combat system. Some aspects of the game were knocked, like the Mary Jane Watson stealth sections and some pacing issues in the campaign, but overall, many critics agreed that the 2018 Spider-Man game was one of the best games released that year. The 2018 Spider-Man game earned an 87 overall rating, according to Metacritic.
Spider-Man 2 is Tied for the Highest-Rated Insomniac Game of All Time
Spider-Man 2 joins the ranks of two classic titles from Insomniac Games as the developer’s highest-rated game entries of all time.
Marvel's Spider-Man was followed up by 2020's Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a small-scale sequel of sorts that introduced Harlem to the open world map, changed the setting to Christmastime, and put the focus squarely on the title character. Spider-Man: Miles Morales reviews were mostly positive as well, though not quite as high as the 2018 Spider-Man game. It seems the main point of contention critics had with the Miles Morales game was its short length compared to the 2018 installment, with Miles Morales at least 10 hours shorter than the 2018 game on average. Even so, Spider-Man: Miles Morales earned enough high scores to secure an impressive 85 overall rating on Metacritic.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, with the game earning an incredible 91 overall rating on Metacritic, easily cementing it as the highest-rated Spider-Man game from Insomniac to date.
Not only is Spider-Man 2 the highest-rated Spider-Man game from Insomniac so far, but it's also tied as the highest-rated Insomniac game period. Spider-Man 2's 91 overall rating is shared with Spyro: Year of the Dragon and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. Needless to say, Spider-Man fans should be incredibly excited to jump into the hero's new open world adventure come the October 20 release date.
